Not all difficulties are visible from the outside, nor fully resolved by competence, success, or endurance. Many people who come to my practice are highly capable, carrying responsibility, pressure, and often more than others realise. Others feel privately stuck despite outward stability. Difficulties may relate to trauma, dissociation, compulsive coping, childhood neglect, abuse, military service, or demanding professional or home environments. Having worked in the Square Mile, and been a stay at home Mum, I understand pressured cultures and help clients address what remains unresolved so life can move forward more freely.

Seeking therapy is an act of courage and self-care. You don't need a diagnosis to benefit from therapy with a psychologist; that's a common myth. Therapy isn't just for crises; it's also a powerful tool for growth, clarity, and emotional well-being. I work with people facing anxiety, relationship challenges, life transitions, and everyday stress. In a safe and confidential space, we explore your thoughts and feelings without judgment. Using evidence-based approaches, I help you gain insights, develop coping skills, and create meaningful and lasting change.

If you are feeling anxious, depressed or confused about your current situation, we will work collaboratively to gain further insight on how you are affected by this. In time you will have a better understanding of how to manage these concerns and arrive at a satisfactory resolution. Having worked in mental health for 23 years, I have gained specialist knowledge and experience of working with an extensive range of presenting issues. I trained as a humanistic/person-centred counsellor, then went on to train as a psychodynamic psychotherapist, added to that I work interculturally, providing a safe non-judgmental therapeutic space.

Humanistically recognising the needs of an individual ,we see how trauma can be held at a very deep level. Working from the story of an individuals early negative & positive childhood experiences and using Integrative therapy in a number of ways to help the process of getting to one's core beliefs, helps to create a safe space for them to explore and release old patterns. This happens by building a trust with the client to allow their vulnerability to come through. Then, looking at the blocks or defences, via counselling and body Psychotherapy, a unique holistic approach to wellbeing, allows the journey back to health.

So often in our lives we reach a place where we are struggling in some capacity or another. It may be a deep-rooted issue that goes back to childhood, a past relationship or a trauma. It may be some destructive behaviour such as a form of self-harm or an eating disorder. It may be a negative thought process that is having an impact on our daily life. Whatever the issue, I believe counselling can help. Having a place where we can allow ourselves time and a calm space to think, talk and work things out can be absolutely priceless.

Many of us reach points in our lives where we feel stuck, as though we're simply going in circles or have found ourselves at a dead end in certain areas. It's a common human experience to long to bring back a sense of movement, grace, and a fresh perspective to those parts of life that feel stagnant or blocked. This isn't just about wanting a quick fix; it often stems from a deeper need to understand ourselves and our experiences more profoundly, paving the way for genuine change and a renewed sense of aliveness. As a certified Gestalt therapist with 6 years of practical experience, I help you explore your inner experience and

I am interested in helping women understand how their inner and outer worlds interact and how the experience of being female in a patriarchal society shapes our emotional lives. If there a specific life event or relationship you would like to address, or painful experiences in your past that you need to safely talk through or you find yourself feeling unhappy, anxious or stuck, I may be able to help.

You may have struggled for a long time and your ways of coping may not feel as effective. Recent events may be asking you to address specific challenges. Asking for help can be frightening and takes courage. In my experience of working with people, a therapeutic relationship can change the way you relate to yourself and your world. With care and insight (that we arrive at together), you might find true value and self-worth, clarify your purpose or discover your greatest strengths.

Psychotherapy deals with current problems. You may come because of a particular relationship issue or you may not be sure exactly what the problem is but find yourself repeating painful or limiting patterns in life. It may only be through talking to someone that you gain an understanding of what you want to work on. Therapy can be a gradual unfolding process where you have the opportunity to understand how you have become the person you are. This may include talking about how the past has influenced you, exploring your relationships then and now and the way you respond to your life as it is.

Dissociative Disorders (DID) Counsellors
How does therapy for dissociative disorders work?
Dissociation may be triggered by stress or other upsetting circumstances, and therapy can address the traumatic events at the core of an individual’s dissociation. Understanding why a person may dissociate can help the therapist and the individual come up with alternative methods of coping. A person with a dissociative disorder may get stuck on negative thinking, for example, and treatment like Cognitive behavioural therapy is a gold standard for breaking such thinking. And dialectical behaviour therapy, for example, can help a person manage their anguish through better emotion regulation.

Which therapies are best for dissociative disorders?
Specific approaches used by professionals include cognitive behavioural, dialectical behaviour, psychodynamic, schema therapies, among others. Cognitive behavioural and dialectical behaviour therapies are two widely used therapies that can help individuals with painful memories and past traumas. These therapies work to integrate an individual's different identities into one person.

Are there specific medications for dissociation?
There are no specific medications prescribed for dissociative disorders. However, psychosis, depression, anxiety, and/or panic often co-occur in dissociative disorders. A psychiatrist may prescribe medications for any accompanying symptom which may include antipsychotics, antidepressants, or anti-anxiety drugs.

How often and how long are therapy sessions?
Like any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual. Patients may see improvement within 15 to 20 sessions, at an average of 50 minutes per session, others may opt for 20 to 30 sessions over, perhaps, a six-month period. There are still other patients, especially those who have co-occurring conditions like depression and anxiety, who may need to continue sessions for up to 12 to 18 months.
