I have a particular interest in trauma and how it impacts our nervous system: PTSD and C-PTSD, dissociation, hearing voices, addictive behaviours and coping mechanisms and their link to childhood trauma; 'ACE's' (Adverse Childhood Experiences), and how these affect us as adults. Trauma comes in many forms; obvious, overt ones such as physical or sexual abuse, car accidents, war, disasters etc, and also less obvious or covert forms like emotional abuse or neglect, bullying, or just 'not getting what we need' on an emotional level. I'm a member of ISST-D, a trainee member of UKCP and BCPC, and have specialist trauma training.

The psychologist can help you. Count on the support of a professional. Many think that the psychologist is exclusive for mental illnesses, this is a myth, the psychologist works in several areas and uses the best and specific knowledge to help people to have an improvement, guidance or even a determination that generates doubts in several aspects of your everyday life.

If you are looking at this website, my guess is that there is an aspect of your life that needs attention. There are countless reasons why this might be the case. There may be a particular issue in the present day that you wish to address, such as your relationships, bereavement, addictions or depression. Or, you might feel haunted by unresolved issues from your past such as trauma, abuse or childhood experiences. Perhaps it is hard to name what is troubling you, yet you feel overwhelmed, or that your life is lacking meaning and purpose and it is hard to find any enjoyment.

What is art therapy? Art therapy is a form of psychotherapy that uses art media as its primary mode of expression and communication. Finding the right therapist can be a daunting process. I believe that it is important for you to feel a positive connection with your therapist if you are to receive the most beneficial experience from Psychotherapy. I believe that the healer is within you, but I also understand that it is difficult for anyone to self heal without support. My purpose is not only to assist you with the healing process, but also to facilitate your change and growth and help you to naturally awaken your own life supporting behaviours.

I am passionate about Humans' ability to heal when they feel supported and accompanied on their personal life path. We all have greater potential and resources than we think. A lot of the times it is difficult to access this for various (and many) reasons... Fear, trauma, beliefs, illness... Transformation or change is possible. Sometimes we can "shut down" so much emotionally, that we don't even notice we do. Therapy can help with exploring our ways and difficulties to relate, and be in this world as well as what empowers us.

I believe in the power of opening up, and while I will draw on theory and knowledge to support each individual client, I am led by the client and their individual needs. An ideal client is someone who wishes to build a therapeutic space alongside me, allowing me to facilitate safety and build trust. I am experienced at working with complex mental health needs, therefore I begin by creating a formulation of the problem with the client, and collaboratively establish their needs and personal goals. i am interested in helping others to learn about themselves through relational dynamics they experience.

We live in a culture that promotes the idea of strong, powerful individuals who live picture perfect lives. There is little room for showing our vulnerability, or our need for connection. There is a cultural expectation that when things are difficult for us we should just 'get over it' and not make a fuss, this might manifest in you with thoughts of "what's wrong with me", "why is this so hard" and "I should be able to manage by myself" and so on! You may be feeling fragmented, disconnected, numb, overwhelmed, fearful, unable to cope, you might feel like giving up.

June 2022 - I am currently fully booked and not taking on any new clients until September 2022. Many of us have times in our lives when we feel the need for some extra support. Perhaps we are lacking confidence and self-esteem, going through relationship difficulties, feeling depressed, anxious, experiencing stressful life changes such as bereavement, divorce, or redundancy. Perhaps now is the right time to address long-standing issues – or maybe we find ourselves at a crossroads and feel unsure of ourselves and of which way to turn.

Counselling can help with experiences of anxiety and stress, childhood issues, low self esteem, abuse, trauma, existential difficulties, depression, grief and loss, increasing confidence or any issue where a person needs understanding and support to explore their situation in a non-judgmental space. Therapy can help with personal development and is a way of expanding on and understanding ourselves. I work from an integrative approach and draw influence from a range of therapeutic backgrounds to suit the individual and their situation.

As a psychologist I can help with a wide range of issues, such as low mood, depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, improving communication, low self-esteem, chronic health conditions, physical pain, trauma and PTSD, stress, and bereavement. However, I do not see people as categories or labels; it is likely that you are looking into therapy because you have a mix of difficulties, or it may be because you don't know what the problem even is. There may not even be any problems; you may just want space to reflect and make changes. Whatever your needs, you're welcome to discuss them with me to see if I can help.

Dissociative Disorders (DID) Counsellors
Dissociative Disorders are conditions that involve the breakdown of memory. Dissociation is a mental process that produces a lack of connection in our thoughts, a separation of emotions, physical sensations, memories, actions or even our sense of identity. Most of us experience mild dissociation in our everyday lives. We call it daydreaming, getting lost in a movie or a book, or driving home on autopilot. These examples of dissociation are normal, and are a mild form of amnesia. Dissociation can become a disorder when it begins during a person's developmental years and becomes habitual and ingrained. If you're looking for help with dissociative disorders in Bristol or for a Bristol dissociative disorder counsellor these professionals provide therapy for dissociative disorders. They include dissociative disorder counsellors, dissociative disorder psychologists, dissociative disorder psychotherapists and dissociative disorder therapists. They can help with amnesia, memory problems, and loss of recall resulting from emotional trauma.
