People come to me for many different reasons; you might be struggling to cope with a recent change in your life, or you might be experiencing ongoing struggles with anxiety, depression, intrusive thoughts, self-doubt, self-criticism, compulsive behaviours, addictions, difficult relationships, to name a few.
Often our difficulties have roots in our early relationships and traumatic experiences, which take time to become aware of and process. As a Gestalt therapist I pay particular attention to your experience in the present moment, especially your embodied experience, as I work with the understanding that everything important from our past is here now.

interpersonal relationship difficulties
I understand that when looking for some sort of therapy, to relieve difficult feelings and symptoms, the choice can feel overwhelming. You may wonder how you can know what would be most helpful. Two things are crucial. The first is that you find someone you can feel comfortable enough with to be open and trust to be alongside you and guide you. Secondly that that they can enable you to articulate your struggles, understand something of their origin and together explore underlying issues and barriers to positive change. If you want to explore if you and I would be a good fit, contact me for a free 15minute consultation.

Hi, My name is Mandy and I have been told I am a down to earth warm hearted person. I mainly use the person-centred approach where the client is seen as the expert on themselves. This I understand can seem challenging as often people want an expert to guide them or tell them what to do particularly if you are feeling lost and confused and not sure how to feel better. What I love about this approach mainly created by Carl Rogers is that it makes a lot of sense to me. His view is that everyone has the ability given the right conditions can grow and evolve as a person, feeling more aware, happy and able to cope better with life.

I specialise in the following subjects: Anxiety, worry, overwhelm Depression, self-critical mind, loneliness Relationship problems Childhood negative experiences Workplace stress Trauma processing, CPTSD Concentration problems Anger management Loss and bereavement Dating Moving from reactivity to reflectiveness My life and work have taught me that people heal by moving from a reactive state to a reflective state.
I relate to you with respect, and attempt to work with you on a human-to-human level, rather than from the condescending perspective of an ‘expert’. Instead of viewing you as someone who needs to fundamentally change, I am interested in uncovering the wisdom, sanity and authentic being that you already possess.

It may be a deep-rooted issue that goes back to childhood, a past relationship or a trauma.
Having a place where we can allow ourselves time and a calm space to think, talk and work things out can be absolutely priceless. We might find ourselves able to unpick past experiences or to bring up something we have never before shared with anyone else despite its effect on us. These and many other issues can be addressed in the therapy room.

If you need a space to really be listened to, make sense of past, present or future events, discuss personal issues & learn how to move into a deeper understanding of yourself & your relationship to those around you, I will be there alongside you.
It's not only the words you are saying, but what you are communicating through your tone and body language in the room. Sometimes feelings are hard to describe verbally and so I also work somatically, which means learning how your body holds and reacts to different emotions. This can really help you become more aware of your feelings in everyday life.

I work with both individuals and couples.
As a couple, it may be that a sudden event has caused a rift to open up between you both and this has compromised your ability to trust and communicate. Or perhaps there has been a growing distance and there is a desire for one or both of you to reconnect and become more intimate. Perhaps you want different things and it is hard to see a future together.

In my practice, I use Transactional Analysis (TA) to help clients understand the deeper patterns behind their emotions, relationships, and decision-making.
I believe that therapy is often the journey into the unknown. Of course, it is a space to heal, reflect, and build, but what I often experience with clients are those discoveries we make in the therapy room - when we are grounded enough to slow down, listen to ourselves deeply and curiously, and then the unexpected truth comes to the surface. These moments of discovery bring clarity, freedom, relief, understanding, and they almost appear by chance - but they change everything in a bittersweet beauty kinda way.

I am a specialist relationship and couples therapist having trained at Tavistock Relationships, the leading centre of excellence for couple psychotherapy.
I use a psychodynamic and ISTDP approach where our thoughts and feelings in the present are explored in the context of looking at family relationships and early experiences. Making links with our past and present can bring a greater understanding of where our patterns of behaviour and beliefs come from, and how you relate to others and to yourself.

If you are experiencing emotional difficulties, problems in relationships or patterns in your life that you want to change, psychotherapy can be an effective way of addressing these issues from within.
For almost twenty years, my professional background has been in the mental health field, both NHS and Private Sector, working with individuals who have experienced a range of difficulties that I feel are an understandable part of being human.
