My name is Charlotte, I can offer a warm and supportive space to tackle those issues that you feel unable to explore anywhere else. I can help you by recognising unhelpful patterns, and replacing negative coping strategies with positive ones. We can nurture your innate resourcefulness and resilience - work towards becoming the person you want to be and finding your own solutions. Sessions can also be a time to take out of your week to just Be, explore who you are and foster a stronger sense of Self. I have an interest in Neurodivergence and Anxiety disorders, and find that these two things often go hand-in-hand.

Creating a safe and secure environment is paramount, enabling children the freedom to explore at their own pace is so important. My primary aim is to first build upon a trusting therapeutic relationship. It is through this foundation, I believe, that will path the way to the child growing emotionally. I will seek to build their confidence, helping them to believe in who they are and knowing that they have the tools in which to help themselves.

My focus on birth trauma and baby loss deepened through my work within an NHS Maternal Mental Health Service, where I saw firsthand how many parents suffer in silence after a difficult birth or loss.
What I learned, both professionally and personally, is that birth trauma often gets pushed down. Parents tell themselves they're fine. They focus on the baby. They keep moving. And it's not until much later, sometimes in a subsequent pregnancy, that they realise: I never healed from what happened.

Anxiety, grief, anger, emptiness, or a disconnection from the life force that makes us feel alive.
My approach, Core Process Psychotherapy, is rooted in mindfulness and the wisdom of the body. Together we slow down, listen inward, and let sensation become the guide, moving from the noise of the mind into the quieter, deeper knowing that lives below.

You may be considering therapy in the hope of something better. Life might be feeling like a real struggle now or maybe has for a while. There may be difficult feelings like anxiety, a lack of interest in things coupled with challenges in your intimate relationships or at work. You may have a very specific issue that you would like to explore, or a general sense of ill-being and things not feeling quite right. Whatever is bringing you here is both unique to you and your story, and very human. Therapy can offer a place where those painful feelings and thoughts are not only welcome, but seen as offering a catalyst for change.

I am here to listen. The body and mind work together, and I work holistically to support you through whatever has brought you to seek help. This could be traumas such as bereavement, abuse or relationship difficulties - sometimes there's no specific cause, but a generalised feeling of anxiety or sadness that makes it hard to cope with day to day stresses. Talking to somebody empathic and non-judgemental can help, and I offer a warm, safe and confidential space for us to explore your thoughts, feelings and emotions so that you can make sense of them, and find a much better sense of mental wellbeing.

Whether you have recently experienced a crisis in life, or are dealing with a more prolonged sense of disillusionment, I offer a compassionate space for you to explore whatever issue brings you to therapy. Beginning to talk about yourself and what you are dealing with may feel new or even unnerving, so I am always mindful to work with you at your own pace. In this process many different issues may come up for you, and through talking together we have an opportunity to explore, reflect upon and understand more fully how and why you feel the way you do.

How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
