Hi, I'm Maya. I am a Psychotherapist and Founder of Third Therapy, a private practice of therapists. Therapy is about exploring parts of yourself that are lost, or difficult to face, and ultimately, trying very hard to accept those parts. In doing this, our relationship with ourselves, and with others, can shift and become more meaningful. Often, another element of therapy is understanding the patterns and knots that we are part of, and learning to untangle them. We can do this together, I’ll always be firmly in your corner - but I’ll also be there to challenge you.

I believe healing and growth happens in safe, respectful and deeply human relationships. I have a deep respect for people’s histories, their stories, their culture, humour, pain and strength. I do not see individuals as problems to fix, but as human beings navigating a complex world. At the heart of my therapeutic practice is a belief in the strength and wisdom of the human spirit; in our capacity to survive, adapt, heal and grow in relationship with ourselves and one another.

Hey, my name is Sue (she/her).
Thanks for visiting my profile, I know how difficult these first steps to finding a therapist can be. It can feel hard to find energy and trust our decision making process at points in our life when we are already feeling overwhelmed and depleted.
However, over the years of my practice I have come to trust these initial, sometimes tentative, steps as signs of hope and a pull towards growth. An acknowledgment and response to - I want and need something to be different. You are reaching out, and your first questions probably concern - am I someone you will feel safe to open up too? will I get you?

In my practice, the therapeutic relationship is a space where difficult life experiences can be worked through. I take an integrative approach, in which I encourage you to be curious about how your difficulties relate to previous experiences and your expectations for yourself and others. This often brings up feelings that can seem unwelcome and I work with you to help you understand unwanted emotions and connect to your body. My approach aims to deepen your self-awareness in the here-and-now as this helps you to understand and feel compassion for yourself, and be okay in who you are.
