I specialise in sex & intimacy issues (psychosexual therapy) for people who feel they have physical or emotional issues that are affecting their sex life, along with questions about identity, low self-esteem, or shame.
I offer both short-term and long-term support - using creative and expressive arts to help you to explore and understand your thoughts and feelings, especially if you sometimes have difficulty putting things into words. I welcome people who identify as LGBTQIA+ and people who are neurodivergent, including late-diagnosed or self-diagnosed autistic adults. I provide inclusive, non-judgemental support - particularly for people who have experienced stigma or discrimination in the past.

As a Psychosexual & Relationship Therapist, I help individuals and couples overcome the barriers that hold them back from living satisfying, sex-positive lives, and from having meaningful, deeply connective relationships.
I am an integrative therapist (a psychological approach that uses multiple therapy models depending on the patient's needs), with a particular interest in Gestalt (present moment and self-awareness) and Psychodynamic (the root of behaviours). My style is expert, direct, open, honest, sometimes confronting, empathetic, and truth-finding.

I am particularly interested in: • Addictive issues; • Sexuality issues; • Anxiety, depression, stress, burn-out; • Confidence and self-esteem-building; • Decisions about having a baby/egg-freezing/adoption; • Relationship-building; • Finding your purpose.
We all need someone to talk to in confidence. You might be down, anxious, sad, rejected, confused, bereft, angry or struggling with something or someone. Life today is so frantic and demanding that it’s hard to find somewhere to talk where you don’t feel judged or criticised. I am an experienced integrative Humanistic Psychotherapist and Counsellor, also a life coach with many trainings, including CBT. I believe being listened to, understood, and supported can help you deal with your problems. Sometimes you just need some space, some encouragement, even a gentle challenge, to make significant changes in your life.

I have a particular understanding of the unique joys and challenges GSRD (gender, sex, relationship diversity) clients may face and so am best suited to working with those who might find themselves minoritised or marginalised due to aspects of their social identity.
Hi, I'm Cat, thank you for reading my profile. I offer pluralistic counselling either in-person at a central Peterborough location (PE1) or remotely online or via telephone. The work we do will vary according to your needs. Sessions typically take place weekly or bi-weekly. It is possible to work in the short-term (maybe 4-6 sessions) or in the longer-term with an ongoing alliance (1 year+) and anything in between!

We can look at relationships problems such as communication issues, sex, infidelity, ENM, kink, gender, sexuality, anxiety and neurodivergence.
Are you finding your relationship difficult at the moment? Maybe there feels like there’s a block stopping you from moving forward together. Is communication causing problems for you, leaving you feeling unheard and frustrated? Are you feeling disconnected from those important relationships? Together we can look at what’s going on for you and unpick the difficult bits. I'm a GSRD (gender, sexual and relationship diversity) therapist and my approach is rooted in the person-centred approach, meaning that our sessions are led by you at your pace, although I’ll gently encourage you to explore the tougher stuff together in our sessions.

Sex Therapy Counsellors

Who is sex therapy for?

Sex problems are common in relationships. Many people want a better sex life and want to feel loved and desired by their partner. It is difficult for couples to resolve sexual problems on their own because people often feel ashamed to talk about their sexual desires fearing they are not normal, when in fact a very broad range of preferences and behaviors are normal. A sex therapist can help clarify this and other matters.

Why do people need sex therapy?

Many people do not know how to talk about their erotic needs or their emotional needs, both of which are addressed in sex therapy. Couples often live with sexual difficulties for years before seeking help, and in that time, partners may experience so much disappointment and alienation that they may fear their problems mean they are incompatible. Once people experience disappointment, it is difficult to find resolution without help.

What happens in sex therapy?

People have many misconceptions about what takes place in sex therapy. First, it is a form of talk therapy in which partners discuss their sexual concerns; it does not involve touching or physical exploration of any kind. Sex therapy typically helps couples get comfortable talking to each other about sex so that, in the privacy of their home life, they can openly discuss their sexual desires and make decisions about what they want to do. Couples are typically assigned activities to do at home that build intimacy skills.

What kinds of problems do sex therapists treat?

Very often, partners differ in their degree of sexual desire and struggle over how often to have sex. Or they may have fights about porn use or have difficulty connecting sexually after one partner is unfaithful. Men may have problems with premature ejaculation. Women may find themselves struggling to become aroused or to achieve an orgasm. Sometimes partners feel like they have lost the sense of attraction to their partner. These are all common issues dealt with in sex therapy.
