I specialise in the 'sober curious' and in helping people explore and work through their drug and alcohol problems. I'll work with you to design a new life in a safe, confidential, collaborative way. No judgements, just understanding. Maybe you just want to cut down, gain control. Maybe things are getting a little more drastic. I've years of experience, personally and therapeutically, and I know it's not as simple as just putting down the substance- There's the past; trauma from childhood, depression, low self-esteem, anxiety, misplaced coping mechanisms. We'll find solutions. Get in touch to see if I'm the right therapist for you.

org Exploring relational attachments to ancestral entanglements, familial conflict, estrangement, enmeshment patterns & creative stagnation which often cause depression, anxiety, poor coping strategies, low self esteem and self-defeating decisions through dialogue, radical inclusion & art-making to create a healthy soul-container for healing, truth telling and joy.
As we explore together through a Gestalt therapeutic process, your healing is supported as you learn and practice ways and means to: resource aspects that were not seen, spoken up for, protected, nourished and loved; release what no longer serves you; and hand back what was not yours to take or carry.

Having worked with clients who have various different issues including relationship problems, low self esteem, trouble in dealing with emotions, fear of rejection, and more.
As a Person Centred Counsellor, I tend to use two theories that I have found work well ; a Solution Focused Therapy which is a positive style and focuses on a realistic goal, without dwelling too much on the problem. For deeper issues I use a Psychodynamic theory and together we can look at the past and unravel some of your deep rooted issues .

Here are some of the issues I have helped clients explore: depression, anxiety, stress, bereavement, loss, anger, family relationships, relationships with partners, self-harm, lack of self esteem, suicidal thoughts, health-related issues, self-development, creativity, mindfulness, spirituality, search for meaning.
If you decide to work with me it will be rather like setting out on a journey together. On that journey I’ll be your fellow traveller, companion and guide. Whether or not your reason for coming to see me is an external situation that’s impacting your life, a key part of our time together will be to explore your inner world. As we explore that world together you may develop greater insight into patterns of thought and behaviour that served you once but now limit you; you may find alternative ways of approaching difficulties; you may discover a way of being in the world that is more in tune with who you truly are.

Very warm and approachable counsellor, working with indecision, stuckness, feelings of failure, inner critic/self sabotage, procrastination, depression and low self esteem (and other issues too).
I help people get in touch with, and resolve, what is causing their "symptoms". I work creatively in different ways: using art and imagery or small objects, using space in the room to represent different parts of yourself and your issue, or helping you tune into your own bodily wisdom (Focusing).

Self Esteem Counsellors
When should a person seek therapy for low self-esteem?
When self-esteem problems begin to disrupt the healthy daily functioning of an individual, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not engaging with friends for fear of being judged, not completing work assignments because they don’t think they’re capable, or not finding romantic love because they don’t feel they’re worthy of it, a therapist may be able to help.
What are the signs of low self-esteem?
Low self-esteem is a common issue that can affect a person's mental and emotional well-being. Some common signs of low self-esteem include negative self-talk, perfectionism, social anxiety, difficulty making decisions, an inability to set boundaries, people-pleasing, and others. A lack of belief in oneself or one’s abilities and a feeling of not being worthy or deserving underlie most of these characteristics.
What causes low self-esteem?
Feelings of low self-worth can begin in childhood or adulthood. Being raised by a highly critical parent or growing up feeling constant disapproval can stay with a person well into adulthood. Specific issues in adulthood may also be a cause of low self-esteem. An unhappy relationship, a dysfunctional work or school experience can impact a person’s feelings of self-worth.
How can therapy improve self-esteem?
Therapists can help identify negative thought patterns that keep the client stuck in a loop of destructive self-talk and develop coping skills to change the voice in their head. A therapist can help with goal-setting, so that clients are better able to stay on task and build confidence from successfully completing work they’re proud of. Coaching a client on how to better communicate can improve relationships. These skills can result in someone with low self-esteem feeling empowered and living with less fear.
