There is a quiet, persistent knowing when a life has become a series of inherited patterns or a cycle of 'penance' that no longer serves. Perhaps traditional paths have felt too rigid, leaving the deeper, soulful layers of your experience untouched. My work is for those seeking to move beyond the surface—those who are ready to un-weave the burdens of the past and reclaim a sense of vital, lived belonging. We look for the light that remains intact beneath the struggle, moving toward a life that feels authentic, expansive, and truly your own

You may be here because you're exhausted from holding everything together, navigating grief that has reshaped your world, or discovering yourself through neurodivergence or mid-life transitions. Perhaps you're experiencing burnout, carrying shame or guilt that feels impossible to shift, or struggling with anxiety and depression. You might be questioning where you belong, noticing that relationship patterns keep repeating, or feeling disconnected from yourself. What you need isn't advice or fixing—it's a space where you can safely explore what's really happening beneath the surface, and someone willing to sit with you while you do.

Hello.
Thank you for stopping to read about my therapy practice.
I am an Accredited Professional Registrant of the NCPS (The National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society).
I have specialised in (childhood) sexual abuse counselling for (approaching) two decades now.
I find that my integrative approach to counselling (person-centred, Transactional Analysis and Inner-Child therapy; but flexible to your needs) works well, as so many survivors are searching for empowerment and autonomy: freedoms that they have been denied.
I am also experienced in specialist alcohol counselling, play therapy and generic counselling.

Often, the reasons given to me for arriving to therapy are feature one or more of the following: anxiety, depression, sadness, self confidence, life changing illnesses, self identity, early childhood, past or present relationships, bereavements, traumatic experiences, injury and mental health diagnosis. How these issues and difficult feelings manifest in people's lives are unique and so 'reasons' may be identified as problems or difficulties with: addictions; work; intimate or family relationships; children and parenting; personal or spiritual identity, or something existential. Therapy offers to solute and salve these issues.

Anxiety and depression really can hit us all by surprise, often not knowing the reasons why we feel this way?. So what can we do to make us feel better? Do we have to feel alone in this feeling? The answers are to Talk about our thoughts and feelings in a safe place with someone who will truly listen and care. For the goal to be able to wake up in the morning and not get that sense of dread and fear, when expected to get out of bed. To feel motivated again and above all to regain some form of ourselves again.

How does therapy for dissociative disorders work?
Dissociation may be triggered by stress or other upsetting circumstances, and therapy can address the traumatic events at the core of an individual’s dissociation. Understanding why a person may dissociate can help the therapist and the individual come up with alternative methods of coping. A person with a dissociative disorder may get stuck on negative thinking, for example, and treatment like Cognitive behavioural therapy is a gold standard for breaking such thinking. And dialectical behaviour therapy, for example, can help a person manage their anguish through better emotion regulation.
Which therapies are best for dissociative disorders?
Specific approaches used by professionals include cognitive behavioural, dialectical behaviour, psychodynamic, schema therapies, among others. Cognitive behavioural and dialectical behaviour therapies are two widely used therapies that can help individuals with painful memories and past traumas. These therapies work to integrate an individual's different identities into one person.
Are there specific medications for dissociation?
There are no specific medications prescribed for dissociative disorders. However, psychosis, depression, anxiety, and/or panic often co-occur in dissociative disorders. A psychiatrist may prescribe medications for any accompanying symptom which may include antipsychotics, antidepressants, or anti-anxiety drugs.
How often and how long are therapy sessions?
Like any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual. Patients may see improvement within 15 to 20 sessions, at an average of 50 minutes per session, others may opt for 20 to 30 sessions over, perhaps, a six-month period. There are still other patients, especially those who have co-occurring conditions like depression and anxiety, who may need to continue sessions for up to 12 to 18 months.
