Are you feeling low? Anxious? Questioning your worth for others and yourself? Feeling isolated irrespective of your social and community connections? You are not alone. Whilst battling these internal conflicts can leave you feeling alienated, and somewhat of a black sheep, my experiences, both professionally and personally, suggest that these are universal of human living. I have worked with a range of such experiences, including depression, suicide ideation, domestic violence, racial identity and various LGBTQ+ issues, including gender identity and expression and sexuality.

Do you often feel sad, nervous or worthless? Do you wonder if you matter to anyone or to yourself? Do you feel lonely even when you have friends or family around you? Or do you feel haunted by something in your past? You are not alone. Many people face these inner struggles, and they can make you feel like you don't belong anywhere but I have learned, both from my work and my own life, that these challenges are part of being human. Life can be overwhelming at times, we may face problems like anxiety, depression, grief, self-worth, relationships or trauma. this can be too hard to cope with and we may need some help.

I am a psychodynamic psychotherapist working with individuals, couples, groups and as a supervisor. I see psychotherapy as valuable to people from all walks of life and as a conversation which is led by the client, working towards deepening self-awareness and the capacity to live authentically. I have substantial experience with people from all backgrounds, including people from diverse ethnicities, sexualities, genders. I have extensive experience with people who have led quite chaotic lives; but equally, people whose lives appear relatively simple are often, at a private level, in need of the deep attention psychotherapy offers.

Many of our clients are thoughtful, capable individuals who have spent years feeling misunderstood or overwhelmed by their own minds. They may struggle with focus, motivation, anxiety, or emotional exhaustion, often sensing that their brain works differently. Some recognise traits of ADHD or Autism Spectrum Condition, while others simply want to understand why life feels harder than it should. What they share is a desire for clarity, balance, and meaningful change.

I have an open and approachable nature which is underpinned by an empathic core. I allow each client to bring their own content and to guide the sessions. I work with each client in an individualistic manner and can choose a particular modality (CBT, Person-Centred, Psychodynamic) which I believe, fits the content. I will use the initial session to understand your needs and what you hope to gain from counselling. I am also a qualified Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner within the NHS and can deliver low intensity CBT treatment.

Hi, I’m Stuart – a UKCP-accredited Integrative Humanistic Psychotherapist. I offer a safe, steady, and compassionate space for you to explore what hurts, what’s held you back, and what you long for. Are you always putting others first? Does it feel like no one hears you, sees you, or perhaps has ever truly cared for you? Are you low, anxious, angry... or have that feeling something about life just isn't right? Maybe you’ve been endlessly scrolling, hoping to find someone who feels right. Someone real. You might not even be sure what you need yet, just that something has to change.

Do you ever feel caught in endless loops of overthinking or intrusive thoughts that feel too intense to ignore? Maybe you find yourself replaying conversations, double-checking decisions, or searching for certainty that never comes. OCD can make you question everything, convincing you that your thoughts say something terrible about who you are. It’s exhausting, you end up living in your head instead of your life. Working with me means having a calm, non-judgmental space where you can learn skills to quiet anxiety, loosen OCD’s grip, and move toward the life you want.

My career has been focused on the support of those navigating mental health challenges in an empathetic, non-judgemental way. I recognise that every client has different needs and strive to not only understand their current difficulties but also help to recognise what has been perpetuating the problem, reducing the chance of relapse. I have a proven ability to consistently achieve excellent outcomes with complex presentations and I also provide supervision to other CBT therapists as part of both my NHS and private practice.

Male Counsellors

As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?

There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.

How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?

Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client.

Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?

Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with therapists of a specific gender. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.

Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?

Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
