I use an integrative approach as I do not believe one style fits all. This means I will suggest utilising the most appropriate approach according to individual needs and wants. The main approaches I work with, but not limited to, are EMDR & CBT.
My 'Intensives' offer the depth of long-term work in a condensed format, allowing space for insight, emotional processing, and lasting change; working in half/ full day or week blocks- for people who prefer taking time out to focus on accelerated change without the delay of years of weekly sessions (this isn't appropriate for every body and is on an individual basis).

I'm an Addiction Psychologist by trade, with 18 years of private practise behind me, but a lot of my work is helping many different age groups with problems such as OCD and PTSD etc.
I offer one to one therapy but can bring in other relevant people that affect the client if this is required. Teenagers have a hard time and so I do a lot of work with this client group and include a therapy dog when I think it will help them. Equally men and women of many backgrounds have a hard time too, I'm here to help you also.

I work holistically and creatively, recognising that emotional wellbeing is rarely isolated from physical health, nervous system regulation, lifestyle, relationships, meaning and community. My approach integrates psychological understanding with complementary and collaborative therapies where appropriate, creating support that is individualised rather than ‘one-size-fits-all.’
Alongside my therapeutic work, I have a growing interest in developing innovative and collaborative models of wellbeing that bridge talking therapy with integrative health approaches. Modern mental health support must move beyond symptom management.

My clients come with a wide range of different issues. They need their own space to be able to talk to someone who is independent without being judged. My clients goals are to be able to overcome and hopefully resolve their difficulties so they can lead their best life possible. I think clients would like their therapists to focus on specific goals, to help give them structure, and strategies to help them cope with their problems. My goal as a therapist is to enable the client to make critical decisions regarding alternative courses of action without outside influence.

This therapeutic approach is particularly effective for those experiencing anxiety, depression, or struggling to understand themselves on a deeper level. Psychodynamic therapy is a proven and powerful tool for addressing emotional difficulties, as it helps individuals make sense of their emotions and life experiences.

For me whatever my client brings to our safe space is important-as well as myself being unconditional to all they open up about. They may feel it is less important to 'other issues' that 'other people' may have, but to me, all problems or troubles that someone is going through, are valid. I have six years experience working as a counsellor with children and young persons as well as adults. I have worked with the bereaved in a Hospice, those who have experienced sexual assault in other agency settings and also my private practice in Chelmsford where I offer counselling for children from the age of 4 up, young people and adults.

What is the best therapy for addiction?
Addiction treatment will be tailored to the individual. People seeking help for addiction—whether with a psychotherapist, in an outpatient clinic, or in a residential program—should expect to engage in multiple types of treatments, sometimes including medication. For anyone recovering from addiction, avoiding situations in which one has typically used a substance is essential, as is the support of close connections. Since substance use disorders tend to co-occur with underlying mental health conditions such as anxiety or depression, those must also be addressed as part of any recovery plan.
How long does therapy for addiction take?
There is no set timeline for recovery from addiction. Patients and their families should expect the work to last several months, if not longer. Residential treatment programs may be based on a stay of 30, 60, or 90 days, with continuing work after release, but only about 1 percent of people are treated in such facilities. Ceasing use is just the first step; therapy to help maintain abstinence and effect behavior change must follow. The process of recovery, neuroscience has shown, involves brain cells recovering the capacity to respond to natural sources of reward and restore control over the impulse to use. Another definition of recovery is restoring voluntary control over one’s substance use and retaking all of one’s previous responsibilities.
How effective is drug addiction treatment?
Substance use disorders are treatable and remission is achievable for many who seek recovery; by some estimates, more than three-quarters of people who become addicted to alcohol or drugs recover. But that success rarely occurs quickly or on a set timeline; relapse is not only common, but many therapists and clinicians view it as a normal part of the process—not always a sign that a person has returned to addiction, but a signal that their treatment should be adjusted to help them regain control. Overall, research suggests, five years after the end of substance use, one’s risk of relapse is no greater than that of others who had not faced addiction. Other experts believe that complete abstinence is not the only measure of recovery, and that, through effective treatment, many people can learn to control their use.
How can you get addiction treatment for someone?
The most important factor in recovery from addiction is widely understood to be an individual’s commitment to change. For that reason,“interventions” in which friends and family gather to urge or force someone to begin immediate treatment often backfire; even when such efforts do lead someone to begin treatment, they may be less likely to stay than those who are self-driven. Still, family members can play an important role in supporting an individual who seeks help and can take part in family therapy as one element of a loved one’s treatment.
