Hi, I’m a qualified Integrative Counsellor for both children and adults, and an ADHD Coach. Before becoming a therapist, I worked as a Detective in the Child Abuse Investigation Team — and it was during that time I saw just how deeply childhood trauma can impact not only our early years, but the rest of our lives if left unprocessed. The effects can be overwhelming, even life-changing, and it’s what led me to do the work I do now.
I believe in supporting people as a whole — mind, body and soul. I work in a collaborative way, whether that’s through talking therapy or deeper healing methods like hypnotherapy. My approach is rooted in

Life is full of its ups and downs, and during the difficult times it may feel, for some, that there is no one to turn to. It can be daunting asking for help and sometimes it feels like no one understands what we are going through. However this does not need to be the case, as you can get support and understanding through counselling. It's really about finding the right counselling relationships- if you've tried before and it didn't work... it was the wrong therapeutic realtionship- please don't give up, You are worth not giving up for.

I have extensive experience of working with a range of difficulties including anxiety disorders, OCD, depression, insomnia, binge eating disorders and obesity.
During the COVID-19 outbreak, I have found clients to really appreciate the flexibility that meeting online has brought them and many have commented that they have found it just as effective (if not better) than meeting face to face.

In our modern society there are so many potential situations where life can become difficult without warning. Some people may have experienced difficulties throughout the whole of their lives, some may have experienced changes to their circumstances that have led to difficulties arising in their teens, 20s, 30s or further into adulthood. Some people may not even have been aware that their circumstances and experiences have led them to a place where they needed help. Whatever a person’s life experiences, everyone deserves an opportunity to heal, develop a stronger sense of self, or just understand themselves better.

Counselling is for anyone who feels they need help. That help could be coming to terms with a particular issue in your life or learning to manage difficult and upsetting feelings. I provide a safe and confidential environment where you can explore your thoughts, feelings and emotions. Although support may be available from family, friends and colleagues; it is often helpful to step outside of these relationships and speak to a professional who has no other emotional involvement in your life.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Counsellors
How long does OCD treatment take?
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.
What happens if OCD is not treated?
Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.
Are there medications for OCD?
Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine, fluoxetine, and sertraline, among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.
Can OCD come back after treatment?
Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
