Whether you are dealing with anxiety, depression, panic attacks, low self-esteem, bereavement, PTSD, or body dysmorphia, you do not have to keep carrying it alone.
I bring several years of experience working with complex mental health needs and trauma, alongside over 20 years of remedial bodywork. That combination gives me a rare and deep understanding of how our experiences live not just in our minds, but in our bodies too. It means I can hold a genuinely safe and steady space for whatever you bring.

I work with anxiety, depression, grief, trauma and life transitions, with specialist experience in perinatal mental health.
Something feels harder than it should and you might not even have the words for it yet. Maybe you're overwhelmed, anxious, or carrying grief you can't quite name. Perhaps becoming a parent has brought unexpected emotions to the surface. Or you're in the middle of a life transition that's left you feeling lost. I offer warm, relational psychotherapy tailored entirely to you, a space to slow down, make sense of what's happening and feel less alone with it.

There are times in life when people can experience unmanageable or emotionally overwhelming feelings and behaviours or maybe a trauma that may persist even if there is support from friends and loved ones.
As well as offering general counselling in areas such as depression, anxiety, relationships etc, I specialise in offering counselling to stroke survivors, or those with a brain injury, or their carers. I am also a Rewind Trauma Technique trained therapist.

Feeling stuck, overwhelmed, sad or worried? Maybe you’re struggling to juggle the many demands of life and feel like everything is getting to you. Taking the first step to getting help is a brave one and often one of the hardest parts. Together we will unpick what is going on for you and identify a way forward to help you get your life back on track. I know how difficult it can be finding a therapist who works with your schedule so I offer evening and weekend appointments.

I am an experienced UKCP registered psychotherapist and supervisor. I have a MSc in Transactional Analysis and further specialist training in infertility and couples work. I believe that the therapeutic relationship is invaluable to most, and that building a relationship based on trust, empathy and mutual respect creates a safe and non-judgemental space for clients to think and speak freely about their experiences. I use an integrated approach to my work with clients dependent on their needs – drawing from Transactional Analysis, humanistic and existential philosophy. I deepened my understanding of how we process life experiences with a Diploma in Trauma Therapy integrating Trauma focussed CPT (Cognitive Processing Therapy) and Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT).
My early training working in multiple GP surgeries across London and as an honorary therapist at MIND introduced an existential framework for which I am grateful and use in my work today; how do we 'be' in this world. I was drawn to Transactional Analysis (TA), the social and behavioural study of human interaction. Why do we do and say, think and feel the way we do? My passion is the psychology of humans, their capacity for resilience building and how we attach, often involving the pain of disconnection. I integrate all my clinically researched trainings into a therapeutic approach grounded in acceptance, compassion and growth.

Life can feel overwhelming, especially when anxiety, overthinking or emotional exhaustion start to take over. You may be coping on the outside while feeling stuck or disconnected inside. Sometimes the hardest part isn’t what happened, but carrying it alone for too long. Many people come to therapy feeling tired of being strong, confused by their emotions, or disconnected from themselves. I offer a quiet, thoughtful space to slow down and gently explore what’s beneath the surface—without pressure, labels or judgement...

You may be feeling worried, down, stressed, fed up, conflicted, confused, or simply wishing for change. It may feel difficult to manage life and you may have no idea why, or you might have some ideas. Perhaps you’ve had difficult experiences during childhood, adolescence or adulthood. Perhaps the thought of talking to someone feels a bit scary but better than keeping everything bottled up. You may wish to improve your relationship or relationships in general. Perhaps things happen in your life and you don’t understand why, or how. You might find that you’re drawn to distractions like the internet, or overspending.

You might come to therapy feeling anxious, stuck, disconnected, or exhausted—perhaps from difficult relationships, eating distress, low mood, anxiety, or years of holding yourself together. Many people I work with worry there’s something wrong with them. I don’t see it that way. Struggling doesn’t mean you’re broken; it means you’re human, shaped by complex and often painful life experiences. I work without diagnosis or assessment, meeting you as a whole person rather than a set of symptoms or problems to solve. Our work is collaborative and relational, focused on understanding your experience deeply, rather than fixing.

Through therapy you can find out things about yourself that will help you understand what is going on for you and help to develop your own understanding and gradually learn more about your innermost parts and lead the way to greater acceptance of yourself. This is awareness and will help you feel more empowered to choose to do things differently. I believe this work is about being true to yourself rather than being who you think you 'should' be and to reclaim those parts of you that have been denied. It is both challenging and rewarding work leading to emotional healing and growth.

I have worked with clients on a broad range of issues, including depression, anxiety, gender & sexuality, loss, childhood trauma & abuse, difficulty with relationships, sex or intimacy, domestic violence & bereavement.
Hi, I'm Sam - a warm, experienced and attentive relational psychodynamic therapist. This means I bring a curiosity in understanding how past experience influences the person that you are today, and provide an open-minded, safe and accepting space where we can work together to make sense of the questions or issues that you might bring to therapy. I bring experience of work in community mental health, suicide prevention & homelessness services. Therapy provides an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of yourself, the ways in which you relate to yourself and others, and the patterns in your life which seem to repeat themselves.

Trauma and PTSD Counsellors
When should I seek treatment for trauma?
Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?
Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?
Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?
It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
