Something feels harder than it should and you might not even have the words for it yet. Maybe you're overwhelmed, anxious, or carrying grief you can't quite name. Perhaps becoming a parent has brought unexpected emotions to the surface. Or you're in the middle of a life transition that's left you feeling lost. I offer warm, relational psychotherapy tailored entirely to you, a space to slow down, make sense of what's happening and feel less alone with it.

Many of the people I work with have been struggling quietly for a long time. They may appear fine on the outside while feeling anxious, exhausted, or deeply stuck underneath. Whether you are dealing with anxiety, depression, panic attacks, low self-esteem, bereavement, PTSD, or body dysmorphia, you do not have to keep carrying it alone. I work with adults and young people in a warm, private, and completely non-judgemental space. My priority from the very first session is that you feel safe, heard, and respected. I believe that a genuine, trusting therapeutic relationship is the foundation of all meaningful change.

I am a person-centred Counsellor and a registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy). There are times in life when people can experience unmanageable or emotionally overwhelming feelings and behaviours or maybe a trauma that may persist even if there is support from friends and loved ones. I encourage my clients to fully explore their experiences and help them accept who they are and what is out of their personal control, so they can better understand their current situation and improve their lives.

I offer a kind, compassionate, and nonjudgmental space for you to come in and talk about whatever is on your mind, whether it's things that happened a long time ago or something that's happened this past week. I'll work to ensure that you feel safe to explore whatever is on your mind, knowing that sometimes you may process difficult memories or situations quickly, or it might take some time. Our work together will happen in the way that feels right to you, and I will support you as we move forward. I'm not judging my clients, I'm not easily shocked, and I don't mind if you swear - sometimes there's really only one word for it!

Life not turned out how you had expected or hoped? Something not sitting right? A niggling thought or unrest within you? Happiness feels out of reach? Having experienced my own, at times, bumpy journey it has given me a fierce and unshakeable belief that change is possible in us all and we all have the potential to have a life beyond our wildest dreams! That’s not always to say we get what we may have fantasised about but that we work on ourselves; and as we embark on this our dreams change and they become reachable as we become more teachable and learn about the authentic us and what we really want, We have choices!

Sometimes the strength that keeps us going also becomes the armour that shuts others out. Many of us learned early on that expressing feelings was unsafe, that softness invited harm, or that anger was the only way to stay protected. Over time, this armour can harden, making us lose touch with what it was once protecting. Anger becomes a shield: strong, reliable, and exhausting to carry.

My clients typically experience depression, anxiety and problems with relationships. Many of my clients have no previous experience of counselling, others have tried different interventions but have struggled to make changes to their lives. All my clients want to lead their best lives and are curious about the patterns of behaviour that seem to get in the way and the origins of those behaviours.

I provide in-person and online therapy, working in an integrative and relational way. This means that I draw on different therapeutic perspectives and work collaboratively, responding to what you bring and what feels most helpful over time. My practice is trauma-informed - I pay attention to how earlier experiences may shape how you relate to yourself, others, and the world in the present. I specialise in therapy addressing relationship difficulties, childhood trauma, anxiety, depression, bereavement, neurodiversity, LGBTQ+ identity, self-doubt, experiences of marginalisation and work-related stress.

I offer long-term, weekly psychoanalytic psychotherapy for adults navigating deep emotional pain, trauma, burnout and relational struggles. My work is for those who are high-functioning on the outside, but internally tired, overwhelmed by anxiety, emptiness, people-pleasing, or repeating the same painful patterns in relationships. Perhaps you’ve been in therapy before but felt it only scratched the surface. In my practice, we go to the root. I shall help you understand the unconscious patterns that formed early in life, often around difficult attachment, emotional neglect, or survival strategies you no longer need.

FAQ - Therapist Gender
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.

Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
