I am a psychosynthesis therapist with additional training in bereavement and creative expression.
Our minds are powerful, and often given all the attention when ‘mental health’ no longer feels ‘healthy’. But as time goes by, transpersonal therapy can help us see that the symptoms are there for a reason; perhaps we weren't living a fulfilling and authentic life. So we honour what your system is trying to say; let it guide us towards a more empowered you.

I work with clients going through life transitions, loss, anxiety and depression.
I imagine you find yourself here because you are struggling with something and it is becoming increasingly difficult to manage this alone. Perhaps anxiety is ruling your life or relationships are strained. Sometimes a traumatic event or painful past experiences bring everything into sharp focus. In reaching out you are listening to that voice within that is telling you all is not well. The therapy I offer will attend to this. Together we will explore your challenges and what might be realised within your struggle as potential and possibility.

I also work with clients who have experienced Domestic Abuse, or Bereavement and Loss.
I am a Person Centred and Humanistic Counsellor. This means I work from the belief that each client is an expert on themselves, knowing more about themselves than anyone else. I provide emotional safety and psychological support, in a calm environment where you will be valued and respected. By gaining clarity and perspective on what is troubling you right now, and with increased insight into your own internal world and how you interact with the world around you, your confidence in your ability to move forward in the right way for you will grow.

Many people I work with describe a feeling of living behind a mask, smiling, coping, keeping up appearances, while privately battling anxiety, low mood, grief, or a sense of disconnection.
Counselling can be a game-changer. Here’s how it helps: Breaks the worry loop - I can help you spot unhelpful thought patterns and learn how to reframe them. Builds coping tools - learn techniques that give you more control when anxiety hits. Boosts confidence - As you build skills and gain insight, you feel more equipped to face challenges.

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
