I work as an integrative counsellor specialising in, but not exclusively with, loss,
anxiety
, depression and relationship issues.
I am a BACP registered, qualified and experienced psychotherapist and have worked with many clients with various problems. Many people struggle with their own unique experiencing of the world, which can sometimes feel overwhelming. I am able to provide a non-clinical, non-judgemental, confidential and relaxed environment, to help you safely explore your thoughts and feelings in an attempt to help you gain an understanding and clearer insight into yourself and your problems. During therapy you will hopefully also gain some ‘tools’ to help you deal with life more effectively and in a more managable and healthier way.

This is also effective with General
Anxiety
,
Panic
attacks, Depression, Stress, Phobias, Sleep problems, Chronic pain, Body dysmorphic disorder, Medically unexplained symptoms, Addictions, Low self esteem, Performance
anxiety
and Attachment disorders.
I offer EMDR, CBT and Couples Counselling therapy and the aim is to help you to regain a sense of wellbeing and enjoyment in your life. During the initial assessment we will work together to understand your main problems, what is keeping you 'stuck' and then agree on an individualised treatment plan to help you move forward with clear treatment goals. CBT is an effective evidence based treatment that can help you in the here and now and EMDR is useful for more deep rooted or attachment based difficulties. I find that both work well, in different ways to bring about an improvement in emotional and physical health.

Suffering low self esteem and confidence? You are feeling anxious, depressed, lonely, worried, ruminating, catastrophising, isolating, unable to say no, feeling stuck, hiding their feelings so others won't know. You would like to stop this behaviour, to be able to dream and fulfil those dreams, be able to go out without
anxiety
as to how it might be and ruminating afterwards and feeling you have said and did the wrong thing. You feel put upon by others as you can't so no for fear of someone disliking them, feeling resentful.

I have developed a particular way of working with general
anxiety
or trauma symptoms.
I have 13 years of experience working as a Trauma Therapist. Initially, I worked within the NHS and treated trauma alongside PTSD responses to birth as a midwife and trauma therapist. My private practice developed more broadly, working with
anxiety
, depression, PTSD, dissociation and relationship stresses in any of life's circumstances. I am happy to work with almost any general life issue. Grief, sexual or other abuse, rape, and lifelong bullying are frequent concerns in therapy, and couple therapy is of particular interest. I use EMDR, Rewind, Trauma-focused CBT in a person-centred approach and work with clients online

Life can be full of ups and downs, and all too often there is little or no opportunity to take time for yourself to work through these changes and adapt…leading to problems becoming bigger and more consuming. There may be times when you are suddenly faced with your own vulnerabilities and mortality and may feel like you have no one who you can confide in. As an integrative counsellor and hypnotherapist, I can offer you the time to talk about what worries you, or what feels too much to deal with alone and can walk alongside you on your chosen path.

I work with clients globally via online Sessions and also facilitate group and trainings throughout the UK. I am a transpersonal therapist who works in a very solution focused way. I use a combination of techniques such as CBT, Transactional Analysis, Solution-focused therapy as well as hypnotherapy and parts therapy. I believe that change can happen even in the first session and that a client doesn't need to be in long-term therapy to achieve their therapeutic goals.

The idea of talking to someone can feel really daunting, especially if you haven’t done it before and that’s ok and completely normal. Maybe you have experienced something difficult and need someone to talk to; perhaps you'd like to change the way you feel, experience and cope in certain situations; you may be finding it hard to cope with your mental health. By talking and processing your feelings and experiences it can offer a way of healing, it can offer you more mental and physical space to create a different way of being and start paving a way forward for you that you always hoped for, but may not have felt was achievable.

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioural therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioural Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.
How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.
When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.
How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
