Life can be full of ups and downs, and all too often there is little or no opportunity to take time for yourself to work through these changes and adapt…leading to problems becoming bigger and more consuming. There may be times when you are suddenly faced with your own vulnerabilities and mortality and may feel like you have no one who you can confide in. As an integrative counsellor and hypnotherapist, I can offer you the time to talk about what worries you, or what feels too much to deal with alone and can walk alongside you on your chosen path.

I have the best job in the world: it’s to help you find the peace you’re looking for. That’s what I’ve been doing, first as a shamanic counsellor then as a psychotherapist, for others just like you, for 45 years. Whether you have a phobia, or are in a dire, life-threatening situation, or anything in between, you’re just a call away from finding yourself warmly welcomed to a totally non-judgmental, safe, comfortable space where you can relax and unload whatever you want in total confidence: then we can get straight to work fixing it.

I have over 15 years experience in ongoing and short term (1 - 12 sessions) work whereby we tailor the counselling to your particular needs. I have 13 years of experience working as a Trauma Therapist. Initially, I worked within the NHS and treated trauma alongside PTSD responses to birth as a midwife and trauma therapist. My private practice developed more broadly, working with anxiety, depression, PTSD, dissociation and relationship stresses in any of life's circumstances. I am happy to work with almost any general life issue. Grief, sexual or other abuse, rape, and lifelong bullying are frequent concerns in therapy, and couple therapy is of particular interest. I use EMDR, Rewind, Trauma-focused CBT in a person-centred approach and work with clients online

Whether you are an
adolescent
, adult, sports person or busy executive there are some common themes that resonate with my clients: Finding it hard to make decisions - fear of getting it wrong and constantly worrying/Being less tolerant, irritable over things that wouldn't normally bother you/Needing to do everything perfectly and setting high unrealistic expectations resulting in procrastination/Never feeling you have done enough/A very critical internal voice - Exhausting! Most of my clients want to quieten that negative voice and find ways to achieve and live life without the gnawing anxiety and self-doubt

Teen Counsellors
What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.
How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.
How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.
How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
