Are you feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or exhausted from masking your needs to fit in? Perhaps you're navigating the emotional weight of a recent diagnosis — your own or your child’s — and looking for space to breathe, reflect, and reconnect with who you are. Have you always felt different? Are you curious about exploring your identity in relation to neurodiversity and neurotypicality? I know how lonely it can feel to navigate systems that weren’t built with your mind in mind. I offer a compassionate, neuroaffirmative space where your experiences are validated.

I work with people who are experiencing; depression, anxiety, anger and rage, loss and grief, relationship issues, self-esteem issues, feelings of despair and childhood abuse and trauma. I work with people to achieve real, concrete, lasting change in their lives - and have received plenty of positive feedback confirming this!

I qualified as a transpersonal psychotherapist CCPE in 2000.
My approach is adapted to your needs. I help you to explore the unconscious processes that cause emotional distress and prevent you from feeling at peace with yourself. We will engage closely with the trauma you hold in your body and, in the process, bring you closer to your authentic spiritual self in order to facilitate personal growth.

I am trained in transpersonal therapy.
Finding a therapist can feel like a minefield. Ultimately you probably want to find someone to talk to that you feel comfortable with, and who can of course help. I understand how confusing and nerve-wracking it can be to consider therapy and take the first step. I provide clients with a supportive space in which to unpack their challenges. I will help you to get a better handle on what is happening for you. I have experience of working with anxiety, depression, significant loss and bereavement, childhood and midlife trauma, as well as difficulty understanding feelings.

The Psychosynthesis training I had is orientated towards the whole being allowing for a wide variety of techniques and methods to be used for personal integration and transpersonal Self-realisation.
Not as sure of yourself as you used to be, not feeling good about how your life or relationships have turned out, yearning for something but not sure what that is or just recognising that you no longer want to put up with the feelings, thoughts or that way your body feels. These kinds of experiences are a part what it is to be human and when we're ready to change, it's good to have help. With me its a collaborative effort in which I learn about you and you find out more about yourself; what you want, what's blocking that and how you might resolve those blocks, make changes and realise more of your potential.

I hold a transpersonal frame, inquisitive of the 'bigger picture' and context of the adventure of existence.
Do you feel anxious, depressed, flat and disconnected? Do you feel burnt out from trying to keep up and fit in? Have you worked hard to establish yourself, only to now find that something essential is missing? Do you long to break free, and align your life more with your longing, your wildness, your eros and freedom of expression? Are you concerned by what you see happening in the world, and do you wish all the more urgently and passionately to finally cultivate a way of being, being with others and being in the world, true to you?

I have been working with adults in a therapeutic capacity since 2011 and in that time I have discovered the power of transpersonal, embodied work.
I am experienced working with depression, anxiety, loss, abuse, ocd, loneliness, trauma, addiction and relationship difficulties. I have a particular interest in relationship patterning and parent-child attachment. I also work with people who are curious to know more about who they are or where they might be in life.

I am a trauma informed person-centred counsellor with a special interest in existentialism and the transpersonal.
I believe that each person has the power within themselves to overcome whatever difficulties may be arising and so in my work with clients I am always looking to empower and help them find a deeper self understanding of themselves - for themselves. In this way positive changes are more integrated and long lasting.

My approach is informed by developmental, humanistic, relational and transpersonal theories and methods.
People come to psychotherapy for all kinds of different reasons. Perhaps a particular issue is making life very difficult, or maybe you have more general feelings of discontentment, unease or unhappiness that you want to address. One-to-one psychotherapy can help by providing a safe, therapeutic space in which you feel able to explore and express difficult thoughts, feelings and memories. This process of deep exploration helps you to grow and develop in areas that have previously felt stuck, painful or difficult to resolve.

Seeking a counsellor can be a daunting process. If you’re having having trouble maintaining nourishing connections or have experienced a recent loss or trauma, I can work with you to find your own insights and strengths, enabling you to move towards more freedom and choice. I recognise the need to feel met within a safe and trusting relationship. Having a sense of safeness in the relationship, between us, is at the heart of effective therapy. If we start by being easy and gentle with ourselves, caring for and being able to understand ourselves more fully, can pave the way for more fulfilment.

People start therapy for various reasons. Some want to explore their past, or work through current difficulties, others to accomplish career or relationship goals. Some feel dissatisfied and don’t know why. Whatever the motivation, I offer a non-judgemental empathic space to explore what may be troubling you. I am a trained art therapist and psychotherapist; and believe that using the arts can provide a much-needed outlet to express what words alone often cannot. This can be particularly useful when working through trauma and/or distress, where verbalising experiences and connecting complex feelings can be difficult.

Sometimes we feel stuck, like the past is holding us back. But when we try to move forward, we feel at war with ourselves. Do you wish you could face your wounds and let go of regrets? Are you tired of the highs and lows but can't seem to find peace with yourself? Do you feel so lost in the roles you play for others and the labels they have given you that it is hard to tell what is yours and let go of what is not? If these questions ring true for you, perhaps I can help.

Transpersonal Counsellors

How does transpersonal therapy work?

Transpersonal therapy focuses on a patient’s spirituality and meaning in life. Transpersonal therapists might borrow from Eastern traditions as well as Western psychology. They may incorporate techniques including meditation, visualisation, hypnotherapy, dream analysis, and or breathwork to produce altered states of consciousness. The therapist helps the patient to access their consciousness and spirituality to work through difficult mental states.

How long does transpersonal therapy last?

Because the goal is to understand a person as a whole, including their spirituality, treatment can range from months to a year or beyond. While patients learn the philosophy behind transpersonal therapy during treatment, they can also practice its principles throughout life after therapy sessions have ended.

Is transpersonal therapy effective?

Patients have found success with transpersonal therapy; this method is useful in improving anxiety, depression, self-esteem, identity, fears, relationship problems, and other concerns. Improvements in problem areas can continue even after transpersonal therapy ends, as individuals can utilise the tools they’ve learned during treatment sessions.

What are the limitations of transpersonal therapy?

There is some research on the effectiveness of transpersonal therapy, but empirical support for this therapy approach is sparse. It does not have the robust evidence base of other forms of therapy, such as cognitive behavioural therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy.
