You show up. You keep managing. But privately, you wonder how much longer you can keep going like this. I work with adults in their 20s, 30s and 40s who are holding it together on the outside while running low on the inside. Burnout that crept up slowly. Work stress that follows you home. Relationship patterns that repeat no matter how much you try to change them. I also work with people who have recently discovered or beginning to suspect that they may be autistic, ADHD or AuDHD or who simply feel like they're performing a version of themselves rather than bringing their true selves.

A very warm welcome. Are you looking for a supportive, reflective space to work through your difficulties? Sometimes it’s hard to talk to family or friends and we need someone who offers a fresh perspective with warmth and understanding. Together we can explore whatever is holding you back and help you find a way to move beyond it. All topics are welcome. Currently many of my clients are interested in uncovering a better sense of who they are, or finding their own authentic voice or inner strength, rather than pleasing others.

I offer in-person and remote (online or telephone sessions), I currently have limited appointments available on weekdays.
I believe therapy can be a transformative experience. Whether you have recently been through a difficult or traumatic experience, are feeling lost, low, are struggling with negative self-image, or you just feel it may be helpful to have a space to untangle your thoughts and develop a deeper understanding of yourself, I can hold a safe and non-judgemental space for you. My work is integrative (meaning I draw from different therapy theories), and is client-centred, at your pace, gentle and compassionate.

I have over 10 years of experience working with adults to overcome mental health problems. CBT is an ideal treatment for those who are looking to change, whether that be to make some changes in the way in which you think about things, or some changes in the way in which you do things day to day. CBT can also help clients come to an understanding of 'why', E.G. what is it about you, your experiences & vulnerabilities which perhaps help explain why you struggle. This is often validating & helpful rather than self blaming. Together we will equip you with the skills and understanding you need in order to move forward with confidence.

I also practice face to face in central London (WC1) and in Stroud with appropriate precautions.
With over 25 years of experience, ranging from addiction through to sexual and emotional abuse, anxiety, depression, anger and numbness, I'd like to support you. In recent years I have moved my work focus to integrating Internal Family Systems (IFS) as I find this way of working empowering to the client, engaging and highly effective. It may be you hear a loud critical voice inside or joy and fun may be fleeting or missing, you might like to access them again (or for the first time!). If your goal is a compassionate, connected, creative Self then maybe Internal Family systems be what you are looking for in therapy.

Hi, I'm Julie, and I am passionate about working with people who have experienced abuse or trauma, whether it be sexual, physical or emotional. When we experience trauma we lose part of who we truly are because of the after effects, such as anxiety, depression, panic attacks, nervous system disregulation, flashbacks and dissociation (when we feel distanced from our emotions or ‘spaced out’, as if we’re living on autopilot). I love helping people rediscover who they really are by creating an environment in which they feel safe and completely accepted. I don't analyse you but with careful listening will know what we need to work on.

I'm happy to work in person and online with adults of all ages and histories.
Core Process Psychotherapy is the original mindfulness-based psychotherapy training in the UK. It brings together Western developmental psychology and neuroscience with Buddhist psychology and mindful awareness practice. It's also a trauma-informed practice, informed by Peter Levine's somatic work and Stephen Porges' Polyvagal Theory.

If you're seeking self-understanding, healing from past traumas, breaking generational cycles, and building resilience, I am here to help. Together, we'll examine both the internal and external factors contributing to your difficulties and work through them. Many aspects of life can impact our mental wellbeing, and during significant transitions, we may struggle with change. It’s often when things feel out of our control and we are not aligned with our ideal self that we experience distress. My goal is to help you unpack and process the past, work towards meaningful changes in the present, and create a lasting impact on your future.

I work online across the UK and in person in Swansea.
I’m a neurodivergent therapist working with clients who want to understand themselves more deeply and live more authentically. You might feel like you’ve spent years masking who you are, struggling to feel truly understood, or finding relationships harder than they seem for others. You may feel disconnected, unsure of yourself, or like you can't be the “real” you. Many of my clients are autistic, ADHD or AuDHD (inclusive of those self-diagnosed or questioning). I therefore work in a neurodiversity-affirming way, where the aim is to understand how your mind works and what you need

FAQ - About In Person Therapy
What are the benefits of in-person therapy?
In-person therapy offers several benefits that some people find highly valuable for their mental health treatment. Being present in the same room as your therapist can create a stronger sense of connection and allow for more nuanced communication through body language. Some people may also find it easier to focus in therapy when they are in a dedicated space and away from potential distractions related to home or work; attending an in-person session provides a clear boundary between therapy time and the rest of your life. For certain therapeutic approaches, such as Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), exposure therapy, or somatic therapy, being in person may be particularly important, as these therapies benefit from the therapist being able to observe and respond to a client’s physical cues effectively. Additionally, some individuals simply feel more comfortable discussing sensitive or painful topics when they are face-to-face with their therapist rather than on a screen.

When should I choose in-person therapy over online therapy?
In-person therapy may be a better choice when you need a structured therapeutic environment separate from your daily life, when you find it difficult to focus or feel comfortable in an online setting, or when privacy at home is a concern. It may also be more appropriate if you are dealing with severe mental health symptoms that require close monitoring or if your therapy involves approaches that rely heavily on observing physical cues. On the other hand, if convenience, scheduling flexibility, or access to specialists outside your immediate area are priorities, online therapy may be a better fit. Many therapists offer both options, so you can also discuss with a provider which format might work best for your specific situation.

How do I find an in-person therapist?
You can use Psychology Today's therapist directory to find an in-person therapist in your area. You can search by location, insurance accepted, specialty areas, therapeutic approaches, and other criteria to narrow down providers who meet your needs. Each therapist profile includes information about their credentials, areas of expertise, and whether they offer in-person sessions. Once you have identified potential therapists, you can contact them directly through the directory to schedule an initial consultation and determine whether they are a good fit before committing to ongoing treatment. When reaching out, it can be helpful to confirm their availability for in-person appointments, their office location, and whether they accept your insurance.
