I work in Birmingham UK face 2 face and online. I provided specialist service for African and Caribbean men and couples, who are seeking therapy. I offer a safe space and a non-judgmental environment. My therapy is culturally informed from my experience as a Jamaican. My training in an African centered psychological service as Cognitive Behavioral Therapist (CBT) and Counsellor, as well as at Relate as a Relationship therapist is the foundation of my wok in the UK. I help black clients to navigate different life stages (male, boy, man) and empower themselves, relationship, family & community, to achieve a sense of peace and change.

Life can be very fast paced, hectic and often we are not taught how to cope with any stresses that may arise. Over my time working in mental health, I have worked within many specialist services including outpatient services, addiction therapy programmes, general psychiatry in IAPT services and on psychiatric wards. This vast amount of experience over 10 years, has enabled me to develop a passion to help others feel empowered , to overcome lifes challenges and to learn how to take better care of themselves in the process.

Life can be challenging and we're all doing our best to navigate it. That's where therapy comes in - a safe space where you can be heard, understood, & realise that you're not alone. As a Clinical Psychologist, I have trained and practiced in a variety of evidence-based psychological models (e.g. such as compassion-focussed therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, attachment,DDP, DBT, CBT), meaning I can offer you a truly bespoke therapeutic experience. I have worked in adult services, children's services, forensics and I support construction companies with mental health support. I also take clients who live outside of the UK.

Urban living therapy and well being, is an umbrella term for the type of therapy that I offer. I am a clinical psychologist with over 15 years experience of working with people with complex psychological issues. Very often what brings clients into therapy with me is an accumulation of live stressors, both from past experiences and current everyday challenges. Anxiety, depression, poor emotional coping, self-harm, interpersonal or relationship issues are the areas they wish to address. My clients seek to resolve old issues and develop better ways of managing their emotions and relationships with others.

I'm Nakiece - founder of MANTAS. I offer a safe, creative, and relational space for children, teenagers, and adults to explore their inner world at their own pace. Through dramatherapy and talking therapy, I support clients to process emotions, and navigate challenges and difficulties—using story, play, metaphor, or stillness, depending on what feels right. For some, that is through the creative container of Dramatherapy – for others, it's the quiet space of conversation and reflection.

Clients who see me might be facing difficult life issues, relationship problems or feel stuck. Sometimes clients are grappling with questions of self and identity. Often my clients engage in therapy to help them with symptoms of depression, anxiety, stress and/or past trauma. Being heard in a safe, confidential space can alleviate distress, clarify feelings and experiences. This can help you to figure out the changes you want to make and move forward in life. Making such changes can be challenging, but it can also help you become more resilient and build relationships that are more meaningful to you.

Life can be difficult at times and it can lead us feeling overwhelmed. You may not want to share your feelings or problems with friends or family, and this might be because you don’t want them to worry or you are unsure about whether they will understand what you are going through. It does not mean you have to go through your difficulties alone. Counselling is a journey of self-discovery and it can facilitate positive change. It can be a form of self-care to help to understand yourself better and to allow yourself to live the life that you want and achieve the things you thought you won’t be able to do.

Healing. Taking that first step toward healing can feel scary and overwhelming, leaving you vulnerable and uncertain. But I believe that starting this journey is one of the most rewarding choices you can make. The path to healing and growth is different for everyone. For some, it’s reaching a point where life feels stuck, and you long for change—perhaps in your relationships with family, friends, partners, or even yourself. For others, it’s learning to cope in a world that feels isolating, where it seems like everyone else has figured out how to thrive. It might also involve life stresses or other struggles weighing you down.

Stress, anxiety, depression is no longer such a taboo subject, yet we often tell ourselves, I can cope with this myself or maybe nobody will want to listen because nobody has time, or how about I’m too ashamed and I blame myself so I will cope with this by myself...... Well I am here to offer you the space to speak the unspoken and explore worrying thoughts together. The problem might be a recent incident that has left you feeling unsettled or a long standing concern deep rooted in unresolved trauma that has affected you e.g. sleepless nights, social anxiety, fear, relationship issue, performance at work, mood, self worth.

Often clients come to me when they are seeking deep or broad change in themselves. They have often tried more brief forms of therapy. Commonly, this has helped but not enough, and there is a wish or a need to get to something deeper over a longer period of time. I work with a range of presenting issues, most commonly depression, anxiety and 'people pleasing', stuckness and relationship problems. What my clients tend to have in common is a wish to understand themselves at some depth, including how the past is unconsciously impacting on their present lives. This forms the starting point for change in the self.
