EMDR is particularly helpful for people who have PTSD .
During the past 25 years that I have worked as a Counsellor, I have had the great privilege and opportunity of seeing people's lives change for the better. We all have challenges in our lives and most of the time we manage them through our own resources and with the help of trusted friends and family. There are times however, when we need professional help and assistance. I am able to offer confidential counselling in a comfortable setting. My aim would be to work with you to understand your situation and assist you in finding resolution.

My desire is to see you thrive. I love supporting individuals on their journey of self-discovery. I provide weekly one to one psychotherapy in person from Euston and online. With over 15 years clinical experience, I started my career in addictions drug, alcohol & eating disorders. I worked for many years, with complex trauma & PTSD at one of the UK's largest NHS Foundation Trusts. For the last 5 years I have been in private practice, mostly with diverse women who prefer not to keep explain issues around race or culture. However, my trauma informed approach is suitable for all groups.

If anxiety is getting in the way of you living your life the way you want to, we can work together to change that. Anxiety can creep up on us and there doesn't need to have been a big trigger for it to have a real impact on our lives. I work with people to overcome a wide range of anxiety based difficulties, such as general worry, phobias, panic attacks, obsessions and compulsions and PTSD . Cognitive behavioural therapy can help you understand your anxiety, become less fearful of it and find ways to tackle it. Therapy can also help you to recognise what you are already doing that is helpful - there is always more than you think!

However, I specialise in working with clients experiencing relational problems, sexual trauma, complex post-traumatic stress disorder, disassociation and impostor syndrome.
I understand that life can be difficult and challenging and you may be struggling because you are going through a transitional period or feeling stuck which can be challenging to deal with on your own, but it does not have to be. I provide a safe and supportive setting, free from intrusions and distractions that is confidential and respectful, whilst maintaining impartiality, integrity, and reliability. "The journey to healing is unique and personal one and you will need a guide, but the maps we are using does not identify the precise journey that we will take to get you there. However, I will be there with you to support you."

Trauma and PTSD Counsellors

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
