Our lives begin like a ball of wool , as the wool reels out so do our lives. We hope to reel out this wool to the end without encountering any major complications, or none that we cannot deal with ourselves. However, life doesn’t always turn out the way we plan. Sometimes life throws us a curveball, the wool gets twisted or knotted. Sometimes the reel gets too heavy for us to carry. Many of us can correct these temporary setbacks ourselves when they accrue, however there are times when we become overwhelmed with these curveballs and need a helping hand. "Reach out to someone who identifies with your situations, Urise Counseling"

With a diverse background in community psychological services, NHS secondary care affective disorder services, specialist eating disorder services, and NeuroDevelopmental Disorder services, I possess a wealth of experience in addressing a wide range of issues, including ADHD, depression, anxiety, eating disorders, emotion dysregulation, borderline disorder, bipolar disorders and trauma. I aim to tailor treatment to meet the specific needs of clients, rather than requiring clients to adapt to a pre-determined model.

Hello, I’m Hasan,  and I want to start by sharing that I know first-hand how daunting starting your counselling journey can be, as I have been in your shoes looking for the right counsellor myself. My approach is warm and compassionate, with a sense of "real-talk" when you need it. Therapy can feel hard at times, but I will work alongside you to help build a happier way of life. My belief is that the relationship formed in therapy is a key part to how we make changes. I also use creative tools, such as gemstones, colours, drawings and meditations to help bring a deeper reflection.

My interest in psychotherapy, spirituality and meditation began after the end of my marriage several years ago, which like many other types of losses, triggered a lot of suffering. Life transition, family and friends losses, the breakup of long-term relationships, stress, anxiety and depression are all part of human suffering. However, we have an innate capability, which we can strengthen, that allows us to navigate and, more importantly, learn from our most difficult life experiences.

What if you accepted every part of yourself, even those you hide from the world? What might be possible? Modern life can be challenging, with its demands, expectations and technology, but self-discovery can lead to learning, growth and a greater sense of ease. I can be your calm companion as you explore the areas of life that need attention, helping you connect with others and feel more belonging. My approach is person-centred and acknowledges how childhood experiences shape our adulthood, so that therapy will partly involve coming to terms with the past and how it affects the present.

What if all of these symptoms and problems we experience are pointing to something more? Maybe there aren't any obvious symptoms that you can put your finger on.... maybe it's just a vague dissatisfaction with life, with how things are for you? Maybe there's a sense of feeling inhibited or restrained, or not quite able to be yourself? Or maybe life has thrown you some curveballs, or there has been a big loss or shift in your life that brings you to therapy? I hold the view that these symptoms and issues though painful, may actually be healthy signs that may be pointing us towards change, towards our growth.

Reaching out can be difficult. Maybe you feel stuck, anxious, unsettled, lost your way, or uncomfortable with whom you have become. The difficulties within our lives can change who we are or how we see the world. It can lead to thoughts or behaviours that take us away from who we are, resulting in a feeling of something not being right, struggling to cope or to make sense of things. When entering therapy, our life experiences enter too, and healing occurs within the processing. We will work together to build trust and explore your emotions and thoughts within a non-judgemental and safe environment, working at your own pace.

I work alongside you as you use your own resources in addressing what is troubling you. In focused, brief work there is a set of aims we agree and which shapes the process. In longer therapy the emphasis is on developing your awareness and addressing all your experiences to acquire insights into what is emerging and suggesting a way forwards for you.

Do you sometimes feel different? Or that what you go through is unique only to you? perhaps you believe things that happen to you are all your fault? Or you struggle in relationships? I understand the need to feel part of the world, not 'messed up' - we are social creatures who often care what people think. And we have a natural desire to be the best person we can be - something to be cultivated. The conflict to fit in, whilst being true to yourself - creates tension, anxiety, depression, poor coping strategies. Plus the modern pressures of life rarely let us 'just be'. The process of therapy can resolve these deep conflicts.

Life often presents us with challenges and each one of us develops their own ways of dealing with adversities. Sometimes, however, we might feel ‘lost’, incongruent with how we would like to be, how we would like to relate with others and engage with life. Our difficulties may present themselves in different forms and we often use words such as depression, anxiety, stress, low self-esteem, panic, phobia, obsessive-compulsive disorder, trauma, relationship difficulties, sexuality concerns, grief and loss to describe our experience.
