From the outside, things may look fine — work, relationships, responsibilities — but privately you’re questioning your relationship with alcohol, substances, or other coping behaviours. You may use these to unwind, cope, or switch off, yet feel uneasy about how much space they take in your life. You might not identify as “addicted”, but you’re noticing patterns you don’t like, alongside anxiety, low mood, irritability, or strain in relationships. You’re functioning — but not feeling fully at ease — and you want clarity, balance, and a more intentional way of living, without labels or pressure.

I entered the world of psychotherapy so I could manage and eventually overcome the painful emotions and thoughts that I had experienced. If this is the case for you, then psychotherapy can help you explore uncomfortable feelings that have held you back from living life to the full. Life often throws the unexpected at us, be it through relationships, either personal or professional, we sometimes find it difficult to cope alone and need the support to help us through this difficult time.

My friends would describe me as warm, bubbly, and compassionate. I’m always happy to make time for others because I know how important it is to feel heard and supported. I understand that attending therapy and seeking help can feel nerve-wracking, and I want you to know that you're not alone in this journey.
Having grown up in a culture where mental health wasn’t openly discussed, I’m passionate about breaking the stigma and encouraging open, judgment-free conversations. As a new parent myself, I also understand how challenging big life changes can be, and I truly empathise with the importance of prioritising mental wellbeing.

I commonly work with clients with symptoms of PTSD and/or Eating Disorders. I also work with people with other anxiety disorders and depression. People accessing my support are often looking to come to terms with traumatic events, or may be looking to overcome issues they face with eating such as restricted eating, fear of weight gain or over eating. It may also be that clients are looking for more general stress management, worry management or to address a specific phobia. Overall, however, people are often accessing therapy to achieve a particular set of goals so that they can function better and be happier in themselves.

Hoarding Counsellors
What is the most effective treatment for hoarding?
Cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) has been well-studied in the treatment of hoarding. This type of therapy includes changing beliefs surrounding possessions, as well as learning how to discard items and reduce acquisitions. The hoarder may also gain much-needed organizational skills. Another useful therapy may be compassion-focused therapy, which can address emotion regulation and negative self-perception.
How long does therapy for hoarding take?
Although treatment can vary, most people demonstrate improvement after 23 sessions, with some showing improvement after just a few sessions. Researchers have developed a 26-session cognitive behavioral program. People who hoard may need “maintenance” sessions over the years if the problem arises repeatedly.
Are there medications for hoarding?
The more commonly-prescribed medications for hoarding are including antidepressants, including selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), and serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs). This can include drugs such as venlafaxine and paroxetine. And because hoarding disorder is related to obsessive-compulsive disorder, medications for OCD, such as clomipramine, may be effective for hoarding as well.
Can hoarding come back after treatment?
Hoarding is a chronic disorder and it can last throughout an individual’s lifetime. Regularly checking in with a psychotherapist can help manage symptoms long-term. A good therapist will help the person learn needed skills including decision-making, organization, and stress reduction. The patient will gain a better perspective and the need to cling to useless items will lessen.
