I work with clients who have experienced relationship issues,
family
conflict, trauma, low-mood, substance mis-use as well as low self-esteem and anxiety.
The relationships and experiences that we have, shape the way that we understand the world around. These can make us feel uneasy, and we need to think out aloud. Having an objective ear can help to better understand ourselves. This can be related to personal relationships, our working life,
family
challenges, life events and many aspects of the world around us. I offer a space that works ethically, and within the boundaries of confidentiality and safeguarding. I aim to support exploration of how challenges and concerns can be overcome in a collaborative way and at your pace. I offer individual counselling.

Life can be overwhelming at times, and we may feel that we don't have control of what is happening in our relationships,
family
, friends and work. We can be presented with many issues and not know how to process them. You want to speak to someone who will not judge. You want a safe space to talk through what is in your head and know you are free to be heard. Over time we can tend to bury what may have happened to us in our past and our present. These feelings and thoughts can be processed in a way that helps you grow into your awareness and healing.

Whether you’re having difficulties with your
family
, friends, partner, colleagues, someone else or some or all of the above, I can help.
What’s the one thing in your life that affects how you feel more than anything else? If you answered “relationships” then we should talk. I understand the pain that difficulties in relationships can cause; after all, they’re arguably the most important thing in our lives.

Do you feel everything is annoying or your anger, sadness or fear last for long time? Do you feel stuck with some thoughts and you can’t stop overthinking them? Do you see these features within a member of your

What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.
How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.
How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.
Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
