If life feels heavy, confusing, or simply ‘not quite right,’ you’re not alone. You might feel overwhelmed, unsure where to turn, or worried that your thoughts and feelings are “silly” or not worth sharing, yet they continue to weigh on you. You may feel like there’s no one you can fully trust to voice these things to, or that you’re carrying more than you can manage on your own. I’m here to walk alongside you. The space I provide is caring, judgement‑free, and completely at your pace. If you’re looking for a way to feel better, to understand yourself more deeply, or to make meaningful changes in your life, I’m here to support you.

Starting counselling can feel daunting, but it is also a courageous step towards change. I offer a calm, compassionate, and non-judgemental space where you can safely explore what may be troubling you. We will work at a pace that feels right for you, gently making sense of your experiences and how they may be affecting your relationships. I have a particular interest in trauma and its impact, which can sometimes show up as feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure of yourself or others, and I aim to support you in developing greater clarity, resilience, and a more secure sense of self.

I commonly work with clients with symptoms of PTSD and/or Eating Disorders. I also work with people with other anxiety disorders and depression. People accessing my support are often looking to come to terms with traumatic events, or may be looking to overcome issues they face with eating such as restricted eating, fear of weight gain or over eating. It may also be that clients are looking for more general stress management, worry management or to address a specific phobia. Overall, however, people are often accessing therapy to achieve a particular set of goals so that they can function better and be happier in themselves.

The relationships and experiences that we have, shape the way that we understand the world around. These can make us feel uneasy, and we need to think out aloud. Having an objective ear can help to better understand ourselves. This can be related to personal relationships, our working life, family challenges, life events and many aspects of the world around us. I offer a space that works ethically, and within the boundaries of confidentiality and safeguarding. I aim to support exploration of how challenges and concerns can be overcome in a collaborative way and at your pace. I offer individual counselling.

Are you struggling with loss? Whether you are grieving a person, the end of a relationship, the sudden disappearance of a career or maybe a version of yourself you once knew, it can be exhausting to pretend you’re ‘fine’ Loss isn't always a straight line and it rarely looks like the ‘five stages’ people talk about. It can feel like a heavy fog, a physical ache, or a sense that the world has come to a standstill. Instead of just talking in circles, our work is about integration. We don’t aim to ‘get over’ what happened; we work to build a life that is big enough to carry it.

FAQ - About Therapy for Seniors
Is one ever too old for mental health therapy?
Individuals of all ages can benefit from mental health therapy. Indeed, older adults in particular may benefit from the social and psychological support a therapist can provide; the topics that older adults address in therapy may simply differ from those of younger clients. Seniors should seek out a therapist who has experience working with older individuals and who is well-versed in addressing common concerns among elderly individuals, such as depression, anxiety, loneliness, and physical mobility challenges.

How is counselling for elderly different from counselling for other age groups?
In general, counselling offers an opportunity for clients to process difficult life events and develop coping skills they can use outside of the therapy session. Therapists who specialise in working with elderly clients generally have the same framework but may place a special emphasis on specific topics, such as caregiver relationships and reducing loneliness. They may be specially equipped to deal with certain physical conditions or facilitate discussion surrounding end-of-life topics. Counselling for the elderly may also place a greater emphasis on social work-type topics to ensure that geriatric clients have access to necessary resources, such as food, a safe home environment, and healthcare.

How can therapy improve the quality of life of aging individuals?
Therapy for aging adults can greatly improve quality of life by providing an opportunity for them to process difficult emotions related to end-of-life, navigate relational or caregiver challenges, and develop coping skills for common mental health conditions, like anxiety or depression. Subsequent reductions in negative emotions and mental health disorder symptoms can make day-to-day living much more manageable for aging adults and those that care for them. The ongoing relationship with a trusted therapist can also help seniors combat loneliness and provide a sense of structure for their routine.

What are the qualities to look for in therapists who see seniors?
Seniors counsellors, like mental health counselors in general, should be kind, empathetic, skilled at listening, and knowledgeable about their particular area of expertise. Counsellors specialising in working with the senior population should be very familiar with the aging process in general and the common conditions that the elderly can face, such as dementia, depression, loneliness, and/or physical illness. Many senior counsellors are also well-equipped to help caregivers and families navigate the aging process of their loved ones, and they may draw on Interpersonal Therapy to help facilitate improved interactions between seniors and those that care for them.
