I have worked with children, young people and adults who have experienced trauma and abuse, whilst being trained in the treatment of anxiety, depression, and eating disorders.
Seeing people walk away feeling more confident and making their own choices and decisions, without question, is the best feeling any therapist could experience. Throughout my career I have advanced training within CAMHS and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, enabling me to provide personalised and successful treatment of a range of mental health difficulties.

You feel like you can’t cope, you’re fed up, you’ve had enough. Your life isn’t what you want it to be. Living has become hard and there’s no joy in your world. It’s like everyone else except you is happy. You’re haunted by your past. You think you’ll never be happy again. You feel alone like no one else understands how hard your life is at the moment. On the outside you look fine but inside you feel like you’re dying. Everything you do feels like an act to look like you’re okay. You don’t know how to change things or what to do about it anymore.

I have extensive experience with supporting people through bereavement, anxiety, depression and neurodiverse clients.
Starting therapy can feel like a big step, and it’s important to find someone you feel comfortable with. I offer a warm, friendly space where you don’t have to pretend or perform — a space where you can just be yourself. There’s no pressure to have everything figured out. This is a space where you can share openly, sit with uncertainty, and be met with curiosity and compassion. Whether you're working through grief, navigating life’s challenges, or just needing a place to feel heard and seen — we can explore it together.

If you are feeling overwhelmed, anxious or depressed, counselling can bring about positive change by working together to understand patterns that are keeping you stuck, and developing strategies to cope with current challenges.
I am an integrative counsellor offering one-to-one sessions with adults. Gestalt counselling emphasises the importance of relationship and our moment-to-moment experience in the present. I use psychodynamic approaches to explore how the past affects current relationships, and cognitive strategies to develop new ways of thinking and responding to situations.

I mainly specialize in the use of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and third wave therapy approaches for a range of mental health difficulties including anxiety, depression, specific phobias, OCD and health anxiety.
I stand by my organisations statement ‘Always Authentic, Always Therapeutic’. After speaking with so many clients over the years, it was disheartening to hear that people were not involved in their own care and were frequently met with practitioners who were not experienced in providing the level of psychological support they expected.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

What are the most common types of treatment for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioural therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioural Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
