I am a BACP-accredited counsellor, supervisor and counselling tutor, deeply passionate about helping people. Through my own personal life experience and mental health challenges, counselling and psychotherapy has given a life perspective I would have never imagined before. I truly believe we each have our own answers, sometimes buried deep within us. Therapy is a process to unearth them - perhaps when they are needed most.

I work with teens, adolescents, adults, couples and families.
You want something to be different, you want to stop feeling the way do, but don't know where or how to start? You've already made the biggest step by reaching out. I can help you to feel better, create balance in your life, leave the past in the past, and start looking forward to your future. I have all the relevant qualifications to be approved by Psychology Today, however, I'm more interested in how I can help you.

Whether it be anxiety, low self-worth, trauma or escape from a toxic relationship, together we will unpick unhelpful thoughts and behaviours and explore ways to improve your life.
Hi, my name is Rebecca. I decided to become a therapeutic counsellor because I wanted to devote the rest of my working life to making a difference. My own training and personal counselling has helped me to overcome issues in my own life and now I get to use that experience to help others. People seek counselling for different reasons; a sudden life event that has left them feeling misplaced such as a bereavement or a divorce, some to confront past trauma and some to address day to day issues such as anxiety or low self-esteem. Whatever has led you here has brought you closer to finding closure or improving your day to day life.

I work with clients who may be struggling with depression anxiety trauma related to their relationships or family.
I often use Psychodynamic psychotherapy in my practice. In your first session we will explore what brought you to therapy and then decide the most appropriate ways to help you make progress. We will explore unconscious mind and past experiences to understand and resolve present day difficulties. I will help you to learn to push back against these thoughts.

I work in private practice with individuals and couples, focusing on lived experience — including values, family and relational patterns, identity, relationships, and questions of purpose and meaning.
I offer a warm, respectful, and honest approach to therapy, grounded in open dialogue. Rather than focusing on quick solutions, my work centres on helping you explore what feels true and meaningful for you. Together, we build a trusting and confidential therapeutic relationship, creating a safe space to reflect on your experiences and existential concerns.

We are able to do so much more with our lives and relationships when we are on our own team and I can assist with getting you there.
It's difficult to summarize my approach as I don’t apply a ‘one-size-fits all’ process to my clients. I know how it feels to be a client in therapy, and I've been told that I'm not intimidating and, more importantly, that I'm kind. I help couples and individuals get to the root of what's truly going on in their lives and what thinking patterns are in the way

Couples Counselling Counsellors
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
