You may understand yourself well, yet still find yourself caught in patterns you can't seem to change. Perhaps you've spent years analysing, researching, finding ways to cope, pushing through or trying to improve yourself, but still struggle with anxiety, stress, overwhelm, exhaustion or disconnection from yourself. There can be a frustrating gap between knowing what is happening and being able to change it. Sometimes this shows up physically too, through tension, fatigue, pain or feeling wired or shut down.

Outdoor therapy in natural spaces for stress, burnout, trauma, feeling stuck, and life transitions.
Many people seek therapy when they are feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected from themselves and their lives. You may be looking for a different approach after trying to manage on your own or finding that previous therapy hasn’t quite felt like the right fit. You might find yourself wanting space to think more clearly, to make sense of things, or to reconnect with what feels important. You might be curious about a more experiential and embodied way of working therapeutically. I offer outdoor therapy in natural spaces across East Yorkshire, where we work together in a living environment rather than inside a therapy room.

Hello, my name is Jezz. Taking the first step into therapy can feel daunting. It’s common to wonder whether you’re “ready” or whether therapy is really for you. However, you don’t need to have the right words or a clear plan—just a willingness to begin.

I help children with anxiety, challenging behaviour, trauma, or neurodiverse needs.
I support children and families when things feel overwhelming or in crisis. My practice is transparent and collaborative, helping families work together. With a background in SEND Education and as a parent of two autistic children, I understand that the process needs to be as stress-free as possible. I offer a free initial consultation so parents feel informed and supported. Play therapy is gentle, child-led and non-directive, allowing children to explore safely at their own pace. Play and creative arts helps children with a sensory grounding—especially supportive for neurodiverse, traumatised, or looked after/adopted children.

Your 20s and 30s are often framed as “the best years of your life”. It’s a time of lots of change, self-discovery and forging your own path, but it comes with so many pressures and expectations. Perhaps you’re feeling stuck or lost, and lacking purpose and direction because you don’t know who you really are or what you want out of life. Maybe you’re struggling with difficult feelings, or have noticed there are unhealthy patterns playing out in your relationships. You might want to learn how to set and maintain new boundaries, communicate more effectively, and build your self-esteem. If any of this resonates for you, I can help.

Firstly, well done for considering investing in yourself and starting therapy. I know I am biased, but I know and see the benefits of therapy, although it is not always an easy journey, the personal benefits for you can be immense. I truly believe therapy is for everyone (me included). Finding a therapist is no easy feat, it is about finding the right match for your needs. The therapeutic relationship for me, is really important, I want you to feel safe and be able to talk about things you may not feel you can tell anyone else.

I have extensive experience of working with trauma, including complex trauma and PTSD.
I can offer assessments and short term and long term therapy. Although my training is in psychoanalytic psychotherapy, I think it is important to adapt an integrative approach dependent on what feels most appropriate for the presenting issues that one brings to therapy. Therefore I draw in a range of therapeutic approaches.

I bring two decades of expertise from my NHS career, working across severe & enduring mental health difficulties and more acute occasions of anxiety, stress, burnout, low mood and recent trauma.
My roots as an Occupational Therapist germinated my understanding of human behaviour, motivation, meaningful change and recovery. My work as a CBT & EMDR therapist has deepened my understanding of the interaction between an individual's beliefs & behaviour change. Understanding each person's unique experience enables effective and compassionate therapy.

Trauma and PTSD Counsellors
When should I seek treatment for trauma?
Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?
Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?
Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?
It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
