My name is Sauda (she/her) and I specialise in supporting young people (13+) and adults who are going through or have been through difficult experiences. Having gone through several traumatic experiences myself, I can understand how hard it can be to make sense of life again. You may feel sad, scared, angry or perhaps it’s hard to feel anything at all, leaving you not knowing who you are anymore. I believe that I can help you work through many of the difficult experiences you have been through, and help you to find your way back to you - to find joy and meaning in life again.

Warmth, empathy, non-judgemental acceptance, scientific rigour and humour are at the heart of my approach to therapy. I follow core CBT traditions which put the client and therapist on an equal footing in a collaborative partnership, with the client as the authoritative expert in themselves. I aim to debunk and demystify, strip out jargon, and explain transparently how I work. CBT aims to give clients a therapeutic fishing rod, not just a fish, so that clients are helped to become CBT experts, their own therapists for the future. Therapy can be challenging, but more often it should be healing, uplifting, enriching and fun.

I have experience working with both adults and young people, and I have worked with clients experiencing depression, stress, anxiety, loss, difficulty in relationships, neurodiversity (both diagnosed, self-diagnosed or questioning), suicidal thoughts, trauma, disability, misdiagnosis, medical trauma, intrusive thoughts, abuse and neglect.
My integrative practice blends the person-centred approach, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and Transactional analysis, I also incorporate elements of dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT) for clients who, alongside 'traditional' talking therapy, enjoy learning practical skills to support them in their everyday lives.

Many seek support for anxiety, depression, or suicidal thoughts, while others face challenges with social anxieties or relationships.
Throughout life, our emotional experiences shape how we see ourselves, others, and the world. At times, they can lead to psychological challenges that affect our well-being and relationships. Such difficulties can be hard to understand—not only for us but also for those closest to us. Creating change requires exploring these experiences over time and the unconscious processes that influence them.

Whether you are looking for support through challenging times or trying to make sense of your life, talking to a professional counsellor can be really valuable when things feel overwhelming and uncertain, we all need help at times. Feelings we can’t manage or make sense of can impact on our whole sense of well-being and prevent us from living our lives fully. Counselling can help manage current situations and look at new ways of coping. It can also give us insight, understanding and perspective on past experiences.

Therapy is your space to think about you, your experiences, your feelings, your life. When things are feeling difficult, you may not know the reason why. Taking time to talk to someone not involved in your life can be helpful.

Hello and Welcome, Life can indeed be difficult at times. Many are struggling with mental health in ways that are no longer manageable. Our past and present hurts, our unprocessed feelings can rise to the surface. We find ourselves thinking, feeling and acting in ways that do not reflect who we want to be. Some of us have Grief, Trauma or Addiction that we just can’t seem to work through. As a Senior Accredited Psychotherapist with a PHD(Hon), Master Degree and EMDR(Accredited), I've seen thousands come through my door, with various presenting issues and undergo genuine transformation, healing and leave with hope for the future.

I offer space for people who wish to explore fundamental issues. Some people are driven to counselling by a current crisis that means they need support. Others have been managing perfectly well but decide that repeating destructive patterns or underlying dissatisfaction now deserve attention. I hold a Diploma in Integrative Transpersonal Counselling from Re-Vision. This is 'counselling with a soulful perspective'. The strongest influence in the training is Jung. In this perspective, times of real difficulty or despair are seen as holding a potential for change and growth. In our work you will be heard and witnessed.

I am an experienced, Relate trained, counsellor specialising in relationships, depression and anxiety. Maybe you have tried hard to improve things but so far nothing much has changed. My role would be to help you identify what needs to change and to give you techniques and insights to help implement those changes. Relationships need to adapt and change over time and this can be difficult. Problems are often caused by poor communication and we can look at techniques to enable you to communicate in a way that avoids conflict and promotes a greater understanding of each other.

In life’s journey we experience many ups and downs with issues we find difficult to cope with. To have someone there who’s warm, supportive and non judgemental can help to make that journey a little easier. To be heard and understood can aid in the process of understanding our inner feelings and emotions and help us to find successful ways of managing the difficulties that life throws at us. I can offer a safe and confidential place for you to share, explore and work through those difficulties which may be causing you distress.

Suicidal Ideation Counsellors

How does therapy for suicidal ideation work?

Stress, depression, anxiety, or upsetting circumstances can give rise to suicidal thinking. Therapy can address the events at the core of an individual’s suffering. Understanding why a person may be suicidal can help the therapist and the patient discover alternative methods of coping. A person with suicidal ideation may be mired in catastrophic thinking, and treatment like cognitive behavioural therapy is a good choice for breaking such patterns. In addition, treatment such as acceptance and commitment therapy can help a person manage their distress through better emotion regulation.

Which therapies are best for suicidal ideation?

Specific approaches used by professionals include cognitive behavioural, dialectical behaviour, psychodynamic, acceptance and commitment therapies, among others. Cognitive behavioural and dialectical behaviour therapies are two widely used therapies that can help individuals with painful thoughts and past traumas. These therapies help an individual tolerate distress, regulate emotions, and not act on dangerous urges.

Are there specific medications to be combined with therapy?

The use of medication for suicidal thoughts must be aligned with the underlying cause; conditions such as depression, anxiety, and psychosis may be at the root of suicidal ideation. A psychiatrist may prescribe medications for symptoms, which may include antipsychotics such as aripiprazole or antidepressants such as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors.

How often and how long are therapy sessions for suicidal ideation?

As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual. Patients may see improvement within 15 to 20 sessions, at an average of 50 minutes per session, while others may opt for 20 to 30 sessions over, perhaps, a six-month period. Still other patients, especially those with co-occurring conditions like major depression and anxiety, may need to continue sessions for up to 12 to 18 months. In some cases, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm.
