I am a qualified integrative psychotherapist, which means I work using different theoretical approaches, combining elements of Person-Centred Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Transactional Analysis (TA) and Psychodynamic.
In life’s journey we experience many ups and downs with issues we find difficult to cope with. To have someone there who’s warm, supportive and non judgemental can help to make that journey a little easier. To be heard and understood can aid in the process of understanding our inner feelings and emotions and help us to find successful ways of managing the difficulties that life throws at us. I can offer a safe and confidential place for you to share, explore and work through those difficulties which may be causing you distress.

I am a fully qualified BACP Psychodynamic registered counsellor, meaning I can respond to your unique needs and work with you in an authentic, flexible and dynamic way as we embark on a journey of discovery where you are at the centre of our work together.
When did you last feel really listened to? Do you feel ready to explore why you might feel confused, unfulfilled or overwhelmed by life's difficulties? Early relationships and life events may have shaken your ability to fully value yourself or others. You might be experiencing anxiety or depression. Being able to talk openly to an objective and compassionate counsellor can offer you the support you need to connect with frightening or buried feelings and start to let go of strategies that no longer work for you. You can start to find your own truth and a sense of who you really are.

I can offer a safe, confidential space offering a warm, empathic, supportive and non-judgemental environment for us to explore what’s going on for you. The trust and relationship that you have with your therapist is so important and will be the centre of our work together. I am an integrative counsellor trained in humanistic, behavioural and psychodynamic approaches. Working with these different modalities means that we can find the most suitable approach for you.

I am an experienced advanced qualified psychodynamic counsellor. My client base ranges from adolescents through to the older adult. I offer a safe, ethical and professional environment whereby present day life situations can be thought about in relation to felt anxieties. I draw upon my professional expertise to help explore what as yet may not be understood or known, but may be experienced personally as confusing and overwhelming. With exploration, patterns are understood and a new sense self awareness develops. With care, guidance, time, patience and practice a mental thinking space can start to be experienced.

My Integrative training means I am competent in more than one approach, (Person Centred, CBT, and Psychodynamic or Psychotherapeutic).
Asking for help is not an easy step to take. The prospect of sharing your thoughts and feelings with someone else is quite a leap of faith and if you have not experienced counselling before you may be wondering what to expect. I would like to offer you a comfortable space where we can talk and get to know each other; and when you are ready, we can start to explore and make sense of your thoughts and personal difficulties, working entirely at your own pace. By exploring our past experiences and relationships we can often gain a new and fresh perspective on our issues which can lead to a deeper understanding of ourselves.

I offer two types of therapy; talking therapy and EMDR. I work using a mainly psychodynamic approach. An approach to therapy which means that we will explore what lies beneath your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. We will think together about your current and past experiences, and how they may have shaped your beliefs and relationships today. My approach is warm and professional. I believe that talking helps and that therapy opens a door to new understanding and possibilities.

Talking to someone about things that are making you feel uncomfortable, anxious, or perhaps overwhelmed can help. Sometimes, just saying out loud how you feel can start a process that leads to change and new choices in your life. Thinking, with a counsellor, about the experiences that are making you feel this way can give you the support, the space and insight to find a way through what’s troubling you. I have experience supporting adults who are struggling with aspects of their life such as anxiety, depression, grief, identity, sexuality and self-esteem and I offer a warm and professional place where we can work together.

My name is Sauda (she/her) and I specialise in supporting people who are going through or have been through difficult experiences. Having gone through several traumatic experiences myself, I can understand how hard it can be to make sense of life again. You may feel sad, scared, angry or perhaps it’s hard to feel anything at all, leaving you not knowing who you are anymore. I believe that I can help you work through many of the difficult experiences you have been through, and help you to find your way back to you - to find joy and meaning in life again.

Therapy is your space to think about you, your experiences, your feelings, your life. When things are feeling difficult, you may not know the reason why. Taking time to talk to someone not involved in your life can be helpful.

Whether you are looking for support through challenging times or trying to make sense of your life, talking to a professional counsellor can be really valuable when things feel overwhelming and uncertain, we all need help at times. Feelings we can’t manage or make sense of can impact on our whole sense of well-being and prevent us from living our lives fully. Counselling can help manage current situations and look at new ways of coping. It can also give us insight, understanding and perspective on past experiences.

If you are someone that is feeling lost, scared, anxious and alone I believe I am someone that will be able to help you. Perhaps you don't feel yourself, you have become someone you don't recognise, maybe you feel stuck, unable to work out what you need but know that things don't feel right. This can come from circumstances past and present or you may not be able to pinpoint why you are feeling the way you are. The important thing is you are looking for help and want things to change. Together we can begin this journey towards more awareness and understanding of yourself and what you need to move forward.

For most people there are times when life can become emotionally difficult. Sometimes you might feel you have support around you, yet nothing seems to help. Or you might feel isolated and like you have no one with whom you can share your difficulties or distress. Sometimes we can feel overwhelmed, not like our usual self and find it difficult to cope. This might be in part due to sudden events such as bereavement, or breakdown of relationships, or sometimes something from our past impacts how we react to situations in the present.

I specialise in working with women who feel overwhelmed by life. If you're wondering if that's you then the following questions might help: 1. Do you have a tendency to feel frazzled by life, rushing from one obligation to the next? 2. Do you hate saying no to people but are tired of saying yes? 3. Do you feel resentful of the drain on your time (and does that make you feel guilty)? 4. Does the idea of conflict feel awkward and uncomfortable? If you've answered yes to any of those questions, then you're in the right place.

Psychodynamic Counsellors

Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?

Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.

How long does psychodynamic therapy last?

Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.

Does psychodynamic therapy work?

Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.

What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?

Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
