Something feels harder than it should and you might not even have the words for it yet. Maybe you're overwhelmed, anxious, or carrying grief you can't quite name. Perhaps becoming a parent has brought unexpected emotions to the surface. Or you're in the middle of a life transition that's left you feeling lost. I offer warm, relational psychotherapy tailored entirely to you, a space to slow down, make sense of what's happening and feel less alone with it.

It may be you experience self-doubt, negative thinking or notice yourself repeating patterns that impact your relationships. Whatever is going on for you working together, relationally we can begin to explore ‘YOU’, focus on raising your awareness & understanding of the way you experience yourself, to identify your goals for therapy, to be open to learning new ways of being. Therapy is a commitment between client & therapist, to be open to wanting things to be different.

Life can be really tough sometimes. During difficult periods it can help to have someone to talk to, a different relationship to that of friends and family. I can offer a safe, confidential space offering a warm, empathic, supportive and non-judgemental environment for us to explore what’s going on for you. The trust and relationship that you have with your therapist is so important and will be the centre of our work together. I am an integrative counsellor trained in humanistic, behavioural and psychodynamic approaches. Working with these different modalities means that we can find the most suitable approach for you.

I work with both couples and individuals, offering a warm, supportive, and non-judgmental space where you can explore the challenges you are facing. Relationships can be one of the most meaningful parts of our lives, but they can also bring difficulties, conflict, and uncertainty. Whether you are experiencing communication problems, trust issues, recurring arguments, emotional distance, or navigating a significant life transition, couples therapy can help. In our sessions, we will explore the patterns that may be keeping you stuck, improve understanding between partners, and develop healthier ways of communicating.

Psychoanalytic psychotherapy gives space for all of these and much more, as patient and therapist slowly work to develop an understanding of the patient and those parts of themselves that may be hidden from view.
My first priority is to offer a safe non-judgemental space, which fully recognises the challenges of opening up to a stranger and the building of trust. The pace of work is set by the patient, although as I am training within the field of psychoanalytic psychotherapy I will offer gentle encouragement to consider dreams, early life, and unconscious processes.

You may be the one others rely on - thoughtful, capable, socially conscious - yet privately exhausted. Perhaps you learned to survive through competence, caretaking, or control. You have navigated spaces not built for you, carrying responsibility early. Beneath achievement, adaptation or resilience, there may be burnout, resentment or quiet loneliness. You want to untangle inherited baggage, understand relational patterns shaped by power and history, and build a life organised around desire and choice, rather than endurance and survival.

As a psycho-dynamic practitioner, I see my role first as to provide you with a safe and confidential space in which explore whatever issues you may be experiencing. At unpacking what seem to be the problem, I would listen up to the symptoms but my interest would be on the collaborative understanding of the underlying cause. Exploring and understanding this, would be the body of the work. And it is that, what brings change, and a change that is lasting because will be located not in the symptom but on what caused it in the first place.

I am interested in working with complex emotional and relational difficulties and trauma, supporting people to heal from the lasting impact of adverse experiences and to move towards recovery and fulfil their potential. I am also passionate about improving access to services for marginalised populations. Over time, my professional and personal journey has shaped how I view emotional distress. Rather than asking “what is wrong with you?”, I ask “what has happened to you?”. This shift allows me to see beyond presenting problems to the person behind the distress. It also enables me to bring kindness and compassion into my work.

My work is attachment-based and psychoanalytic.
Sometimes life can be overwhelming. We get anxious or depressed, struggle with low self-esteem or find ourselves repeating the same self-defeating patterns in our relationships. Therapy can help. Whether you're seeking relief from a specific problem or struggling with the vague sense that something in your life just isn't right, I offer a safe and non-judgemental space where we can work through these issues. I have a professional and specialist interest in working with attachment issues, complex trauma, and chronic health conditions often neglected by the healthcare system, such as ME/CFS.

Psychoanalytic Counsellors
Does psychoanalytic therapy work?
Psychoanalytic therapy derives from the work of Sigmund Freud. In this type of therapy, discovering buried thoughts and emotions from the unconscious will help a person work through their difficulties and negative behaviours. Research shows that psychoanalytic therapy can be highly effective, with patients reporting improvement in mood, quality of life, and overall well-being.

How long are people typically in psychoanalytic therapy?
Traditional psychoanalysis is in-depth and is conducted in five sessions every week. Today, modern psychoanalytic therapy is less intense and normally incorporates as few as one or two sessions a week. In some cases, positive change can occur quickly. However, if the condition, difficulty, or behaviour is deep-seated, improvement may require many months or years of therapy.

Is psychoanalytic therapy suitable for young people?
Children and adolescents can benefit from this type of therapy. Many kids and teens are often unable to form and communicate their thoughts and emotions. Psychoanalytic therapy uses specific techniques such as dream analysis, symbolism, and free association or word association; all of which can be useful tools for less-communicative young people. Through this therapy, a patient will hopefully make connections between what they feel inside and how the world works outside.

Can psychoanalytic therapy be done online?
Modern-day psychoanalytic therapy is very different from traditional psychoanalysis. While an individual can sit face-to-face with the psychoanalyst for multiple sessions a week, they do not have to. Today, psychoanalytic therapy can be effectively conducted online or by phone. The key is that the individual confronts what is repressed and avoided, and this can be done whether in person or over online video.
