Hello, at the heart of my practice is warmth and mutual respect. I am patient and accepting and I’ve had many years of experience listening to others. I would be very glad to hear from you if you would like a conversation or have questions about therapy. Whether you get in touch now or at another point down the line, I wish you well, considering therapy is a big step and you’ve taken the first one. Louise

I work with adults, couples, and adolescents, providing a non-judgmental space to work within and support you in therapy. I will help you explore and gain insights into your experiences and overcome difficult feelings and behaviours. How we communicate and form relationships in life are fundamental but often can be difficult and complex. How we feel about ourselves can be equally as complex, often challenged by feelings of not being good enough. Childhood experiences shape patterns of thinking, behaving, and feeling and may not work for us in adulthood, leading to struggles and unhappiness.

We all need extra support from time to time. For some people they have difficult or distressing thoughts and emotions, a stuck feeling may have developed over a period of time, or for others a significant life experience may prompt the need to talk in therapy.

A late diagnosis (self or formal) of adhd/autism, can be a huge adjustment.
Hello. I'm Alice, welcome! I'm on a mission to help burnout, late discovered neurodivergent adults to live an authentic fulfilling life. This might sound familiar- Your nervous system is struggling to keep regulated with the thought of changes, you want to be bold, brave & ask your boss for a shorter working week, but your inner critic persuades you not to- what will the team think of you?! You want to tell your friend that you don't really enjoy meeting at busy places anymore since your autism diagnosis, but your inner critic says that's selfish. I can help you quieten the noise of your inner critic & develop self compassion.

I work with people who are trying to making sense of their place in the world, trying to answer questions of meaning, purpose and identity. If you're considering therapy, you may know what you want to work on, but feel stuck, frustrated, or in need of some support. You may know that something's not right but not know where to start. This may coincide with feelings of anxiety, depression, stress, or burn out. Psychotherapy is a space for you to discuss what's on your mind in a non-judgemental collaborative setting. This is a chance for you to tell your story, and make sense of what it means.

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioural therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
