It can be hard to know who we are and where we fit in, when it seems the goal posts are constantly shifting. If you are struggling with feeling sad, fearful, confused or overloaded by the effort of negotiating through life, counselling can help you manage these concerns. Having the opportunity to explore thoughts and feelings, in a safe and confidential space, is an effective way to restore balance and confidence. We can't change the world around us, or the people in it, but we can change how we are affected by it and our responses to it.

Whether you are struggling with emotions, relationships or physiological symptoms of anxiety or depression I can offer a safe space to explore these. You may be struggling to understand why things are so difficult, and may be very critical of yourself, thinking you should be coping better. You might have experienced a traumatic event, or always felt that you don't quite fit in, blaming yourself. You will probably want to improve your life, feel better and return to some previous enjoyable activities. You might want to re-think your values and life goals to shift your future focus to something more rewarding.

Is life feeling a bit tough at the moment? You might be looking for a counsellor because things are feeling difficult right now. Low self-esteem, anxiety, feeling low and depressed are commonly experienced when things are feeling a bit too much. Counselling can support you to explore what’s going on, understand these feelings and find ways to truly value yourself, and help to make things feel more manageable. Deciding to have therapy takes courage, so it’s important that you feel comfortable with the therapist you choose. It can help to talk to someone with a professional approach who has an objective, non-judgmental viewpoint.

When was the last time someone gave you permission to just play? I'm an Art Therapist who is passionate about exploring difficult feelings and emotions through the use of the art medium in a creative and trusting environment. Working with adults, young people and children, I go with the pace of the client and encourage the use of playing with the art materials to explore a range of issues a person may be experiencing. I work with people so they may explore themselves on a deeper level to overcome challenges, whether those are problems in relationships, anxiety, depression, loss and bereavement or fears and worries about the future.

Hello, I am Carly. I am a BACP counsellor offering one-to-one therapy, providing you with support when things get tough. Finding the right counsellor to share difficult thoughts and feelings with can be incredibly daunting. At the very core of my counselling practice is the belief that clicking with your therapist matters in a way that it doesn't with any other clinician. Studies show that the most important factor in the success of your treatment is your relationship with your therapist and the experience of feeling felt and heard. I provide a safe and compassionate environment that helps guide you towards your goals.

Self Esteem Counsellors
Self-esteem lives on a spectrum: Not enough self-regard (or low self esteem) can lead people to become depressed, or to tolerate abusive situations and relationships. Too much self-love (or high self-esteem), results in an off-putting sense of entitlement and an inability to learn from failure. And it's occasionally a sign of clinical narcissism. Quite the opposite of being shy or shyness, yet still on the same spectrum.
