I am a Integrative Counsellor and have been practising since 2016. The approach I use means I work collaboratively, combining different therapeutic perspectives with the clients needs and experiences both past and present. The relationship between myself and a client will be one that is non judgemental, genuine, and a welcoming one, a space which is confidential and your voice can be heard and listened to. I have several years of experience of working with victims of domestic abuse, and hate crime. I offer a therapeutic space that is both sensitive and responsive to culture, religion, disability and sexuality.

I provide a safe, confidential, non-judgemental and empathetic space for you to explore thoughts, feelings and emotions that make you unique. I believe that you will have your own solutions, so I do not offer advice but will work with you for you to gain an insight into yourself, increasing self-awareness, developing greater inner strength and furthering personal growth and development. This, in turn, supports with anxiety, depression and other issues.

I work routinely with Addiction- both with individuals struggling with addictive and compulsive behaviours, but also with family members. I also work with trauma, and am an Advanced EMDR Practitioner and trained in Clinical Sexology. Struggles in relationships can often be a cause to come to therapy and all my training and experience encompasses both communication with others, but more importantly ourselves. My aim as a therapist is to help you work through what fears or beliefs keep you stuck, and bring your attention to what you hope for, identifying how your strengths can help you achieve the goal you are aiming for.

I am a qualified Counsellor and registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). My theoretical approach is integrative and relational. This means that I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches to find what is most helpful for each client. It also means I am particularly interested in how a client relates to themselves and to others, including how we experience each other. By exploring this together in a safe and confidential environment, I hope we will be able to play with new ways of being which support the possibility for change and growth.

Hello, my name is Michelle, As a counsellor and psychotherapist, I am all too aware of just how daunting taking that initial step towards counselling can be. The mere fact that you are reading this now means you are just a phone call away from putting that right. While we sometimes turn to a friend or family member in our hour of need, it is when the problem lies with our nearest and dearest that we should consult with a professional.

If your life needs to change, and the change has to come now, come along and have a chat. Women's Issues Counsellors
How do you encourage a woman to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual may be suffering, and what effects it has on them, should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
How can women prepare for therapy?
Women can prepare for therapy by being willing to talk about their past experiences and their private thoughts. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. Between sessions, it can be useful to write down notes about their reaction to a given event or how they felt at a particular time.
How long does therapy for women’s issues often last?
As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual and the challenges they face. Therapy types like Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), Prolonged exposure therapy (PET), and Eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR) can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. In some cases, such as for women with eating disorders, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realised.
How can women overcome stigma around specific challenges in order to seek therapy?
Women dealing with domestic abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, and any other number of troubles may feel a stigma around seeking help. It’s important to remember that these issues are not uncommon and there is no shame in getting help for them. Therapy is confidential, and women can talk about their experiences without fear of judgment. Seeking therapy can be a courageous and liberating act, and an important step toward healing and recovery.
