I am qualified and registered as a Psychotherapist and NLP Practitioner, providing counselling, hypnotherapy and personal effectiveness coaching.
We all have troubling problems at times, be they emotional, personal or work-related. Sometimes these problems can feel overwhelming and we become stressed, anxious and unhappy. This can affect our confidence handling relationships, making decisions and generally, our ability to just cope with the pressures that each day brings. Reaching out to an experienced therapist will enable you to talk openly about your concerns and be listened to without being judged. For many people, this is a profound way of bringing about positive and lasting change.

As a qualified and experienced psychotherapeutic counsellor, I offer a supportive, compassionate space where you can explore whatever is troubling you at a pace that feels right. My practice is rooted in the pluralistic approach, which means I draw from a range of therapeutic methods and tailor our work together to suit your individual needs, preferences, and goals. No two people are the same, and therapy should reflect that. I am warm, friendly, and approachable and aim to create a safe, non‑judgemental environment where you can talk openly, feel heard, and begin to make sense of your experiences as you navigate a way forward.

As a pluralistic therapist, I combine different approaches - psychodynamic, humanistic, CBT and hypnotherapy - and work with you to find the right blend for your situation and your goals.
Sometimes you might not know exactly what's wrong - it's just a sense that something isn't right. Other times, you might be facing something very specific in the here and now that you want to overcome. I help with a range of challenges, including anxiety, grief, relationship breakdown, low self-esteem, or the impact of abuse or trauma. I work with adults of all ages, and am an accredited member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society. I provide a calm, safe space to talk things through without fear of judgement, and together we form a therapy plan to help you experience life the way you want to.

Sometimes we may find ourselves overwhelmed with what life sends our way and we lose confidence in ourselves and abilities. Sessions can be either a one off or a series of events, depending on your needs. As Gandhi said, "Be the change that you want to see."

Hello and Welcome, Life can indeed be difficult at times. Many are struggling with mental health in ways that are no longer manageable. Our past and present hurts, our unprocessed feelings can rise to the surface. We find ourselves thinking, feeling and acting in ways that do not reflect who we want to be. Some of us have Grief, Trauma or Addiction that we just can’t seem to work through. As a Senior Accredited Psychotherapist with a PHD(Hon), Master Degree and EMDR(Accredited), I've seen thousands come through my door, with various presenting issues and undergo genuine transformation, healing and leave with hope for the future.

I was going to say a few things about me, but that's not why you're here. You're here because you recognise it's time to talk about you. I can help with that. I have worked extensively with clients who experience professional "burn out", relationship issues, bereavement and loss. The list goes on. Having juggled work, family, personal loss, training and much more in recent years, I understand overwhelm. This experience means that I will listen without judgement, empathise and help you find ways to cope, moving on from the unhealthy habits and emotions you're stuck in. We'll work together towards your goals.

I work with people who are trying to making sense of their place in the world, trying to answer questions of meaning, purpose and identity. If you're considering therapy, you may know what you want to work on, but feel stuck, frustrated, or in need of some support. You may know that something's not right but not know where to start. This may coincide with feelings of anxiety, depression, stress, or burn out. Psychotherapy is a space for you to discuss what's on your mind in a non-judgemental collaborative setting. This is a chance for you to tell your story, and make sense of what it means.

I offer counselling, EMDR, and hypnotherapy to support people through grief, loss, adoption-related experiences, or other life challenges.
I became a therapist after facing challenges in my own childhood, which showed me how transformative understanding and support can be. Over the years, I’ve worked with people experiencing grief, loss, adoption-related experiences, and ongoing stress. Painful or distressing memories and thoughts sometimes keep returning, no matter how hard we try to avoid or manage them. Putting others first, struggling to say no, or pushing yourself to keep going can feel familiar. These coping strategies helped at the time, but over the years they can become exhausting or feel like the new “normal.”

Hypnotherapy Counsellors
How does hypnotherapy work?
Hypnotherapy works by using guided hypnosis to help you reach a state of focus and concentration through mental imagery and soothing verbal repetition. The state is somewhat like being absorbed in a book, a film, or your own thoughts. You are not under a therapist’s “control,” but they can help you relax and turn your attention inward to discover the resources to achieve behaviour change or better manage psychological concerns. Therapy sessions may involve guiding you through recognising a problem, releasing problematic thoughts about it, and considering and accepting more productive alternatives before returning to normal awareness. Hypnotherapy is typically used by a therapist along with traditional forms of talk therapy. Eventually, your therapist can help you learn hypnotherapy techniques yourself, so you can establish a stronger sense of control on your own in stressful or challenging moments.

Is hypnotherapy the same as hypnosis?
Hypnotherapy, which is sometimes called hypnotic suggestion, is a therapeutic technique in which a therapist uses hypnosis to help patients. It is not the kind of hypnosis portrayed in stage shows, or in movies or on television. You will not be unconscious or asleep during hypnotherapy, you will not lose control of yourself, your thoughts, or your free will, and you will be able to fully recall your experience. And while you will hear your therapist’s suggestions, it is always up to you to decide whether to act on them. Hypnosis by a trained mental-health professional is not a form of mind control, which is impossible to achieve anyway.

Can everyone be hypnotised?
The most common challenge of hypnotherapy is that as many as one in four people cannot be hypnotised. Brain imaging has confirmed differences in patterns of brain connectivity between those who respond to hypnotism and those who do not. Other people who could potentially be hypnotised may not respond to the technique because of their scepticism or resistance to entering a hypnotic state. If a therapist’s “post-hypnotic suggestion” is effective, it’s because they are suggesting something you want to achieve.

Does hypnotherapy work?
Through hypnotherapy, you can achieve changes that are real and sustainable. Like other talk therapy techniques, when hypnotherapy succeeds, it’s a case of mind over matter. Effective hypnotherapy involves self-healing because you access resources you need to change inside of yourself and learn how to tap into them whenever you need. Hypnotherapy has been shown to be an effective therapy for anxiety, phobias, stress, panic attacks, post-traumatic stress disorder, sexual dysfunction, and undesirable behaviours like smoking. It can be used to help improve sleep or to address relationship challenges, and to aid with pain management, digestive disorders, skin conditions, and the gastrointestinal side effects of pregnancy or chemotherapy.
