I understand that it can be very stressful for you to talk about your own issues or share your distress with someone else. After all, we are all encouraged to ‘keep going’. I strive to create a warm, safe, comfortable and therapeutic space for all my clients, which is a blend of the treatment room I work in and the atmosphere I create. I will provide you with both non-judgmental acceptance and empathic support. I listen to my clients intently and explore your inner world thoughtfully, whilst drawing on and sharing my insightful understanding to help you to make sense of what’s happening.

People have counselling for many different reasons. Some will have a particular issue they wish to work through in the short term, some may have been affected by a life-changing event or loss that may need a little longer to come to terms with, others may just feel unhappy, low, sad or angry but unsure why. Whatever it is that is affecting you or leaving you feeling that life is too tough to cope with, counselling can help. It can enable you to understand your emotions more clearly, recognise deeper issues, highlight what you need to take the necessary steps to make changes and move forward with your life.

There are different fees for child or adult work due to amount of liaison involved.
Therapy means different things to different people. For some, it's about changing a particular behaviour or learning to better manage emotions. For others, it's a space to unpack experiences and gain deeper understanding. Sometimes it's all of these—or something else entirely. My strength lies in helping clients explore, reflect and make sense of their inner world. I aim to create a space that’s safe, accepting, and non-directive, so we can work together to understand why you feel, think, or behave the way you do. Through insight, we can uncover new ways of relating to yourself and others, helping you move toward the life you want.

I have experience of working with children, young people and adults suffering with emotional and psychological difficulties; trauma, abuse, anxiety, depression, loss, self-harm, low self-esteem, relationships, and more.
Hello and welcome. I'm a qualified counsellor that is passionate about mental health and well-being and I'm committed to making a difference to my clients' lives. Suffering from emotional or psychological difficulties can feel overwhelming and is often debilitating. Life can be complicated and cruel and we can often feel hopeless, confused and out of control. There are times when life can just become too much and the smallest things can get to you. I understand the prospect of counselling can seem daunting, however talking to a counsellor is the first step towards change. You don't have to struggle alone.

I have the ability to really sit and be present with adolescents and young people (up to the age of 25 years) and their families and consider their emotional experiences. They may be worried about life transitions, such as the next steps after leaving university or moving schools, or parental divorce. They may have social anxiety and are struggling to attend school or they have had a traumatic experience but unable to talk about it. Good emotional health starts with a safe place to talk, and make meaning out of difficult experiences.

I work with adults, young people, neurodivergent individuals, and families supporting a child unable to attend school, including those awaiting or transitioning from CAMHS.
Many people come to therapy feeling stuck, anxious, low in mood, struggling with low self esteem, or life changes they can't quite make sense of. Some notice old patterns resurfacing, while others want support navigating transitions. In therapy, I offer a calm, attentive space to pause, reflect, and begin to understand your story in a meaningful way. My clients seek understanding, clarity, and practical guidance to move forward with confidence.

I have worked in mental health for over ten years with adults across the lifespan, children and families who have experienced a range of difficulties, in both community and inpatient settings.
We will spend some time getting to know each other to create a safe and relaxed space, to help you talk freely about your experiences. We may talk about what has brought you to therapy, as well as what is important to you and what you would like from the sessions. I will be interested in hearing about various different aspects of your life.

Do I need to attend therapy with my child?

Parents are an integral part of a child’s therapy, but the specifics of their involvement vary. If your child is young, you may attend most or all sessions; if your child is older, you may attend a few sessions or none; sometimes a therapist may ask you to have a session on your own. Whatever the arrangement, you should expect to work collaboratively with the therapist, your child, and your family members to take steps to help support your child.

How long are sessions with child therapists?

Children’s therapy sessions can last 30 minutes, 45 minutes, or 60 minutes. The length of the session may depend on your child’s age and the type of therapy practiced. You can discuss this with therapists you consult and the one you ultimately move forward with.

How do I get a child to agree to seek therapy?

The best approach is to have an open-ended conversation with your child about how they’re doing and what they might be struggling with. When you raise therapy, discuss the concept in an age-appropriate way, for example explaining that a therapist’s job is to help kids handle their hard or uncomfortable feelings. Frame therapy positively, as an opportunity to explore and build emotional skills—it’s an important tool in the toolbox to help kids feel their best.

How can I tell if a therapist is a good fit for my child?

A child needs to feel comfortable opening up about their thoughts and feelings, so if your child feels a sense of comfort, ease, and trust with their therapist, that’s a great sign. In addition, a therapist is a good fit for your child if the two can communicate well together; a clinician should be able to communicate clearly, effectively, and in an age-appropriate manner.
