Do you feel tender and weighed down by more than words can hold? You may find yourself anxious, stuck, or overwhelmed—caught in the pull of patterns that never seem to end. Maybe you yearn to feel settled in your body, more open in your connections, more alive in your days. You don’t need fixing—you need meeting. To feel safe, witnessed, and held as you touch what lies beneath. You’re ready to trust your own wisdom, soften old defences, and step into more truth, clarity, and belonging. You want to return home to yourself.

Hi. Sometimes we can find ourselves in troubling and distressing times, not knowing how to find our way out. It can be much easier and achievable when shared with someone who can support and guide you through it. It can feel very lonely and isolating, often a place you never expected to find yourself in and living through. Finding a way out and some peace can feel like an impossible task. Being able to talk to someone in a non-judgemental environment that gets and understands you can be a massive relief. To know that you have the support of an experienced qualified counsellor is a great support with working through your concerns.

I am aware that it can be a bit daunting to know who to speak with, so many counsellors to choose from. My aim is to make the process of reaching out for support as reassuring and stress free as possible. The relationship with ourselves is central to how we are, having the time and space to explore our deeper questions and concerns and working through them, can offer us a greater sense of peace within ourselves. A quote 'When a person has been hurt in a relationship, they can only be healed in a relationship' - therapy offers a therapeutic relationship to begin to heal our past hurts.

I offer therapy that helps you understand your experiences with compassion and curiosity. Together, we’ll explore how your personal history, relationships, body, and the wider world shape the way you feel and move through life. Past traumas and familiar patterns can influence what feels safe, overwhelming, or even possible. At the same time, we can also consider the impact of cultural, social, and material factors on your lived experience. By taking the time and noticing these patterns, we can distinguish what comes from the present, what echoes from earlier experiences, and where change is possible.

Is this what life was supposed to feel like? Perhaps you’ve hit some 'milestones' - your career, your relationships, your social life? From the outside, things might seem fine. But inside, something feels...off. You can’t shake the nagging feeling that life wasn’t supposed to feel this uncertain, this uninspiring, or this overwhelming. I'm here to say, life doesn't have to stay like this! Together we might work on: Decision-paralysis. Reduce feelings of 'stuckness'. Ease anxiety about time (running out or being wasted). Let go of comparison. So that you can feel clear about your future, and confident to start living your life again!

I am an experienced and accredited counsellor who feels passionately about the transformative change that can emerge from good quality therapeutic support and the positive impact it can have on one's life. I work with adult clients experiencing a wide range of symptoms and difficulties. Some may find they are struggling to manage life and/or their emotions, and may experience feelings of overwhelm. Other clients come to therapy following an upsetting, difficult, or traumatic experience that has recently occurred, or that has happened in the past but continues to cause upset or unease in the here and now.

Hi there, I’m Sam and I am a BACP registered person-centred Counsellor (and also a qualified CBT Therapist) and I work with adults, children and adolescents. I understand the importance of a safe space to explore and understand feelings, and to consider and become aware of unhelpful patterns of behaviour. Together we can discover how to make positive changes and manage difficult feelings and emotions. I have a number of years experience working in a NHS commissioned service around common mental health difficulties. I want to help you reach your goals - we will explore the past and present to help you to heal and thrive.

Female Counsellors

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
