Hi and welcome to my profile! I am a fully accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT) with the BABCP. We can all experience difficult times in our lives that we may require help and support with.  When we experience distress we can often have negative feelings and thoughts which can influence how we react to a certain situation. We can often find ourselves stuck in a vicious cycle of negative thoughts and behaviours that can be hard to break.  CBT works on a 'here and now' basis, exploring your current difficulties and give you effective coping strategies to be able to make changes in your life and move forwards.

Many clients, with no prior knowledge of counselling, believe that the counsellor will sort their problems out for them. I will help you to explore your own issues, feelings, beliefs, behaviour, and worldview, so you can become more self-aware and achieve greater independence. During our sessions, I will help you to realise what resources and support are available to you that you can use to work through your own issues, build your self-confidence and appreciate that you always have options. I will treat you as the expert on yourself, as no-one else knows exactly what it’s like to be you.

It brings company of anxiety that won't switch off, avoiding confrontation at almost any cost, a constant low hum of not being quite good enough.
I work with adults who, underneath their kindness and care, struggle with people-pleasing and never feeling good enough. I'm an Integrative Psychotherapist with over 10 years experience, including 5 in a specialist trauma service. I've specialised in trauma and people-pleasing, drawing on hundreds of conversations with people who called themselves a 'people-pleaser' long before they ever thought to call it trauma. For many, it began somewhere specific, in childhood, in relationships that weren't quite safe enough to just be yourself. For others it was an accumulation of difficult experiences. Both matter. Both are welcome here.

Questioning the life you've built? If things look sorted on paper but feel empty on the inside, I help you find clarity in your work and relationships so life feels like your own. But right now, you feel exhausted, disconnected, like you're just going through the motions of a life that doesn't fit you anymore. You want to find some genuine clarity in your relationships, your work, and who you actually are underneath it all. I work with adults in their 20s and 30s who feel stuck and are trying to figure out what's next. Together, we create a space to step back, untangle the bigger picture, and see the wood from the trees.

Life happens, and the majority of the time we seem to find a way to "happen" with it. We find a way to navigate through the motions of "doing" and get to a place of "being". Being excited, being present, being happy - but sometimes along the way it can get confusing, blurry and we can feel a bit lost. As a certified counsellor, I work with you through the confusion, to get to a place of clarity. I explore the past and present with you using an integrated therapeutic approach - blending the different skills I've learnt in practice to assist you with where you are right now. Many therapists talk about the varying styles of therapy

In our sessions we can work together to explore what your worries and fears are.
Are you having to cope with the death of a loved one, and feeling the overwhelming experience of loss and grief? Have you or someone you love been diagnosed with a terminal illness? You are not alone. I provide a space where you can talk and be listened to as you explore your experience of bereavement or a terminal health diagnosis. I can give you the chance to express how you feel, and say the things you feel unable to say to friends and family, without feeling judged.

These experiences can show up in lots of different ways, such as being overly self-critical, feeling anxious or overwhelmed, feeling low, or finding relationships more difficult than they’d like.
My approach is person-centred, trauma-informed, and neuroaffirming. At its core, this means I aim to meet you human to human – with respect, care, and genuine curiosity about your experiences. I pay attention to what feels important to you and to the ways you’ve learned to cope, alongside what feels supportive now.

Many clients I work with are struggling with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, family conflict, grief, or the impact of difficult life experiences.
I offer a Professional Counselling and Psychotherapy Service. If you are searching for a Therapist then it is likely that you are feeling some kind of emotional distress, dissatisfaction, emptiness or a lack of purpose. From time to time virtually everyone will experience life events that cause significant distress. These events maybe recent or may have occurred many years ago. Counselling and Psychotherapy are not only helpful for big traumatic life events but can also be beneficial when you are feeling ‘stuck’ or at a ‘cross roads’ point in your life. I work with individuals and offer couples therapy.

I often work with overlapping issues of anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties, grief, complex and conflicting emotions and thoughts, low self-esteem, a sense of feeling stuck or unfulfillment in life.
Everybody’s experiences and responses toward the unpredictability of life, differ greatly. Having a confidential space, that’s just yours, where you can focus on yourself, your life experiences, or your thoughts and feelings, can be incredibly transformative, provide a sense of relief, clarity, renewed optimism and hopefulness. I’m far from a ‘detached analytical cold figure’ in the room, but a person of warmth, an ‘old soul’ and ‘down to earth attitude’, whom respects individual uniqueness, circumstances and paths in life. I work with you to find the answers/solutions that you are looking for; not to analyse, or dictate to you.

Your green status is on. But are you running on empty? In the tech, IT, and engineering sectors, a strange paradox occurs: the more flawless your work is, the more invisible you become. Constantly cycling between feeling unseen and managing high-stakes fire drills causes a dangerous state known as Silent Burnout. I help you treat this isolation as a system optimization challenge. Using coaching psychology and cognitive neuroscience, we dismantle 3 AM execution loops, clear brain fog, and restore execution momentum, ensuring you stop keeping the company's machinery running at the absolute expense of your own health.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

What are the most common types of treatment for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioural therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioural Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
