‘You are the Greatest Project You Will Ever Work On’ As a humanistic integrative counsellor I offer a safe, empathic, non-judgemental space for you to explore the challenges life presents you with. The therapeutic relationship I can provide you is a confidential space where you can speak openly and honestly, free from fear of judgement or concern about the impact on others, something that often feels different from talking with friends or family. Counselling is not about telling you what to do, but about helping you connect with your own understanding, strengths, and inner resources.

Over the last 14 years I have helped many people achieve a sense of well being, integration and wholeness in their personal & professional life. I can help you achieve the same. Life does not need to be a struggle. The process begins with you taking that scary first step to have an initial session or even just to call me to have a chat. In this first session or chat you can experience me and how I work and if we are a good fit, we can take it from there. I look forward to talking to you.

Most of us experience emotional difficulties at some point in our lives. We may turn to friends and family for help and support, but sometimes this is not possible, or not enough. At this point, therapy can help. A supportive relationship, with a therapist you can trust not to judge or criticise you, can give you the safety and space to share your feelings and to think about what is troubling you. This can lead to greater understanding and the possibility of lasting change and growth. From my practice in Finchley Road, I offer a private and confidential space to help you to explore and come to terms what is on your mind.

My clients are high achievers who are, by most visible measures, doing well. What's hidden, sometimes for many years, is a deep-seated belief that's becoming hard to escape. They come because this familiar problem has returned, a decision keeps getting deferred, or a private reckoning is no longer sustainable. The discomfort between how they appear and how they actually feel has become too costly to ignore. I work relationally, using Transactional Analysis as a primary framework. That means looking at what's driving the narrative, not just how to control it.

The people I work with often come to therapy feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected - from themselves, from others, or from a sense of purpose or ease. Many are navigating stress, anxiety, low mood, burnout, or past trauma. Others are struggling with identity or relationship difficulties, including issues around confidence, shame, sexuality, sex or intimacy. Clients usually want a space where they can make sense of what’s going on without fear of judgment or pressure to “perform” emotionally. They want to feel more grounded and connected - to themselves and others, and that starts with feeling seen, heard and understood.

It can be incredibly difficult to reach out when you feel something is ‘not quite right’ or even needing someone who will listen to thoughts or feelings you have been holding. The trigger to considering therapy can be anything happening in your present life, anxiety about the future, self-esteem or self- worth even repeating behaviours that are impacting your quality of life. Working on trust is important to me, by having a good connection it allows for sessions to feel comfortable. I will not judge you, lecture you or offer ‘solutions’– the purpose of therapy is to allow you to reach your own conclusions in a safe environment.

Is therapy for men different than it is for women?
Therapeutic treatments and types are the same for men as they are for women, with the same protocols followed and the same strategies employed. Discussing one’s feelings and emotions is an integral part of most therapies, and some men find doing so more challenging. Therapists can help clients through the process; some specialize in treating men for this reason.

How do you encourage a man to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either himself or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can men prepare for therapy?
Men can prepare for therapy by approaching the process with an open mind, being willing to talk about their challenges, and giving treatment the time to work. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. It can be useful for men who struggle to recall their emotional states to write down notes between sessions about their response to a given event or how they were feeling at a particular time.

What should men know about the process of therapy?
One of the most common reasons men don’t seek therapy is the notion that there’s something wrong with them if they do. Men should know that just because they’re seeking therapy doesn’t mean they’re mentally ill or damaged in some way. In the same way people work on their bodies through exercise or a craft through practice, therapy can be a way to improve the mental and emotional skills needed to be productive and effective partners, employees, and people in all realms of life.
