I have been working for over 21 years with people who have a wide range of issues including, relationship and work problems, low self esteem, addictions and other forms of self harm, abuse, eating disorders, bereavement as well as people who suffer from stress and anxiety or feel low, depressed and suicidal. I am also qualified to work with couples and groups about relationships. Most of my training and work as a counsellor has been about really learning to listen to people, hearing the ‘music’ behind their words and sensing their deepest feelings, hurts, joys and fears as it is then that therapeutic healing can occur.

I offer a calm, confidential and non-judgmental space in which to talk over whatever's troubling you, either as an individual (£70) or as a couple (£85). I am also a clinical supervisor (£60). Sometimes, people think their problems aren't big enough to warrant counselling, or are too big for someone else to cope with, but if there’s something that’s getting in the way of you leading your life the way you want, we can look at that together. Or there may be one particular event in your life which is affecting you which we can explore so you get a good understanding of how it affects you, and the changes you might like to make.

Do you often feel overwhelmed? Are you responding anxiously to the world but can’t find a starting point to get a handle on it? I would love to help. Together we can create a space where we can hold the complexity of your experience. I can help you develop the skills and awareness to find the difficult choices and conflicts and start to tackle them. I enjoy working with a neurodiverse clientele and am particularly interested in the intersections in our experience. Where life stages - maybe new parenthood, menopause or retirement - coincide with questions around neurodiversity or a changing understanding of traumas we have faced.

Typically, people turn to therapy when they are having a hard time. You might be feeling lost, lonely or stuck, wondering where you fit in. You might be suffering with distressing symptoms, such as anxiety, low self-worth and depression. Many people coming into therapy are struggling with big questions: How can I develop self-esteem and purpose in this uncertain world? Is it possible to move on from painful past experiences? How can I find lasting and satisfying relationships? Who am I really and who do I want to become? Therapy can help with all these challenges, providing relief and helping us to grow and thrive.

Hello. I passionately believe that to achieve a successful outcome in counselling, a safe and supportive therapeutic relationship is essential. My approach is collaborative and client-centred to work with you to achieve your therapeutic goals. I primarily use a psychodynamic therapy model in my work. This approach differs from other psychotherapies as it focuses on making sense of your current difficulty and the feelings, thoughts and associated memories that may have brought you to your current situation.

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?
You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.
How does treatment for ADHD work?
Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioural therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.
How long does treatment for ADHD take?
It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
