Hi I'm Kris, I am a qualified counsellor who is passionate about supporting adults who feel stuck and need some help. You might be struggling to build or maintain relationships, not having fulfilment in your work life or finding the time they spend online scrolling, watching or gaming is impacting your wellbeing. These issues can lead to you feeling like you can't motivate yourself to take the steps you want for change to happen and thinking you aren't good enough. This can then lead you to feeling lonely and hopeless, sometimes developing into mental health issues like anxiety and depression.

Feeling anxious, unsettled or sad can feel like a lonely place to be in our lives. I work with anxiety and depression and have further experience in working with addiction and abuse. Whether it's a challenging life event, relationship, job or a sense of ongoing unhappiness that feels hard to pin-point, I offer a calm and friendly space in which we can talk through your issues at your pace to explore what you might need. Rather than advise, I gently support you to find the way forward that feels right for you.

There are many reasons why people are looking for a counsellor and each reason is unique, personal and deeply important. Why reach out to me? If you’re an adult or young person looking for someone to hear you, I can offer counselling shaped around your individual experiences and needs. My integrative approach is compassionate and grounded in the belief that therapy should provide a supportive, reflective space where you feel genuinely understood.

These models include Transactional Analysis, CBT, or the Psychodynamic approach, which support short or longer term work.
I am a fully qualified, accredited Psychotherapist and counsellor. I work with a range of issues, including anxiety and depression. Being heard and accepted for being who you truly are, can feel incredibly empowering. When this is taken away, our thoughts can trigger unhelpful behaviours, increasing low mood. Which in turn can play havoc with our emotions. When we feel lonely and isolated, overwhelming feelings can flood our thoughts and fears. I can offer you a safe, warm, and confidential space to explore any issues that may contribute towards your anxiety and depression. I am here to listen to you in an non-judgmental way.

Exploring the possibility of counselling/psychotherapy is a courageous step, one which can enable you to become more fully yourself. Therapy should be a place where you can feel safe and accepted, where you find it easier to share things that are concerning you. It can be a place where you come to find out more about yourself, to challenge yourself and make choices and decisions that lead towards a more positive and hopeful future. Sometimes there is something from our past, an event or an aspect of ourselves, that seems to be holding us back, and therapy can support us in addressing those things too. Be in touch for more info...

Above all working with you to get the most out of our sessions whether we use gentle person centred or more structured cognitive behavioural therapy.
Hi I’m Mark, I offer a warm, empathic and positive approach to support those facing stress, anxiety, trauma, low mood, or a sense of feeling stuck. With a previous background in high-pressure roles and experience across a wide range of therapeutic techniques, I understand the challenges of both personal and professional life. Cognitive Behavioural (CBT) Counsellors

How does cognitive behavioural therapy work?

Cognitive behavioural therapy works by exploring how your thoughts affect your emotions and experiences. CBT helps you identify distortions in your thinking. For example, you may tend to jump to the worst case scenario catastrophising or think in extremes (all-or-nothing thinking). A therapist can teach you how to push back against those thoughts to ultimately change your feelings and behavior for the better. They can also provide coping skills to better deal with stressors and challenges.

When do I know to seek treatment with cognitive behavioural therapy?

It’s reasonable to consider cognitive behavioural therapy if you struggle to manage difficult emotions or behaviors to such an extent that you are not getting the most out of life on a day-to-day basis. If you want a shorter term, concrete, skills-based approach, CBT is a great option. (By contrast, other types of therapy may devote more time to exploring your past and its effects.) The decision to seek CBT also depends on the condition you’re treating; CBT is an effective treatment for anxiety, depression, trauma, and many other disorders.

How can I find a cognitive behavioural therapist for someone else?

To find a cognitive behavioural therapist for someone else, you may want to begin by discussing the person’s problem, researching cognitive behavioural therapy, and assessing whether the approach is the right fit. You could then reach out to a few cognitive behavioral therapists in this directory, explain the scenario, have a consultation with those available, and determine who could be a good match.

Why is CBT such a popular form of therapy?

CBT has become a popular form of therapy because it is effective and accessible. Robust research has demonstrated that CBT is an effective treatment for many mental health conditions. And CBT can be learned in relatively few sessions, which means that many people can engage in the process, afford it, and see results quickly. It involves learning concrete skills such as disputing unhelpful thoughts; these skills can also be taught and spread widely.
