I can provide face to face sessions within Wigan.
Feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, or not quite like yourself during times of change? Whether you’re navigating menopause, questioning your identity, or moving through life transitions, you don’t have to face it alone. Life’s changes can bring anxiety, overwhelm, brain fog, loss of confidence, or burnout. They may also reveal neurodivergent traits such as ADHD or autism. Experiences like children leaving home, caring for ageing parents, relationship or career changes, and shifts in identity, body image, or sexuality can all impact how you see yourself.

If you are struggling with relationships, loss, stress, or feeling lost and overwhelmed, you might feel like you’re stuck, don’t know where to turn or how to move forward. Sometimes we don’t know what to say, how to say it or even fully understand what we are feeling; it’s often not just one thing that we are feeling but a complex mix of different emotions. Our sessions together will give you the opportunity to be heard, to explore your emotions and unpick the difficulties you are having.

I offer 60-minute sessions, face-to-face in Chorlton, online or by phone, and a free 15-minute chat first so you can decide without committing to anything.
Most people who find me are carrying something that will not settle. Often a relationship has ended and their mind has not caught up: the checking, the re-reading of old messages, the conversations they keep having at 2am. Others come with anxiety, low mood, burnout, bereavement, or that flat feeling of being lost after a life change. You do not need a tidy reason to come to counselling. "Something feels off" is enough. Together we make sense of what happened, look honestly at how it is impacting on you now and build practical ways through it, so you leave with both an understanding of it and something you can actually use.

I currently do face to face also.
I know sometimes it's very difficult to put in words what you're really experiencing and each time you try to speak to family or friends they just don't seems to understand where you're coming from and sometimes they try to advise you on what to do, but you're left frustrated. You might even find it difficult to understand what it is that you are really experiencing and the emotions that are associated with it. There might be situations which triggers a specific thought or feeling and it has changed your whole day and you quite can't identify it. You might be feeling anxious and feel like everything is out of your hands.

Life doesn’t always unfold the way we expect. Sometimes, we find ourselves feeling unsettled, disconnected, or unsure of how to move forward. Perhaps you’ve experienced a sudden change, feel stuck in familiar patterns, or carry something from the past that’s quietly affecting your present. Over time, these experiences can shape how we feel day to day, sometimes leading to anxiety, low mood, or a sense of being “not good enough.” Therapy offers a safe, non-judgemental space to pause and reflect. You start to make sense of your thoughts and feelings, explore what has been weighing on you, and reconnect with your own inner resources.

FAQ - About In Person Therapy
What are the benefits of in-person therapy?
In-person therapy offers several benefits that some people find highly valuable for their mental health treatment. Being present in the same room as your therapist can create a stronger sense of connection and allow for more nuanced communication through body language. Some people may also find it easier to focus in therapy when they are in a dedicated space and away from potential distractions related to home or work; attending an in-person session provides a clear boundary between therapy time and the rest of your life. For certain therapeutic approaches, such as Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), exposure therapy, or somatic therapy, being in person may be particularly important, as these therapies benefit from the therapist being able to observe and respond to a client’s physical cues effectively. Additionally, some individuals simply feel more comfortable discussing sensitive or painful topics when they are face-to-face with their therapist rather than on a screen.

When should I choose in-person therapy over online therapy?
In-person therapy may be a better choice when you need a structured therapeutic environment separate from your daily life, when you find it difficult to focus or feel comfortable in an online setting, or when privacy at home is a concern. It may also be more appropriate if you are dealing with severe mental health symptoms that require close monitoring or if your therapy involves approaches that rely heavily on observing physical cues. On the other hand, if convenience, scheduling flexibility, or access to specialists outside your immediate area are priorities, online therapy may be a better fit. Many therapists offer both options, so you can also discuss with a provider which format might work best for your specific situation.

How do I find an in-person therapist?
You can use Psychology Today's therapist directory to find an in-person therapist in your area. You can search by location, insurance accepted, specialty areas, therapeutic approaches, and other criteria to narrow down providers who meet your needs. Each therapist profile includes information about their credentials, areas of expertise, and whether they offer in-person sessions. Once you have identified potential therapists, you can contact them directly through the directory to schedule an initial consultation and determine whether they are a good fit before committing to ongoing treatment. When reaching out, it can be helpful to confirm their availability for in-person appointments, their office location, and whether they accept your insurance.
