I truly believe that everyone deserves sound mental health, but sometimes life can provide so many challenges that you may end up feeling out of control, anxious or miserable, unsure which way to turn. You are welcome to talk through your experiences and feelings and be listened to in a non-judgemental, open, and empathetic manner. We will work together to develop an understanding of all you have been through and work on processing these experiences within yourself. I offer therapies for anxiety, depression, OCD, PTSD , self-esteem or confidence problems, etc. in English and Hungarian.

Working as a Jungian Psychotherapist, Integrative Counsellor, healer and Reiki Master means I work holistically. Every aspect of you is included in therapy - mental, physical, emotional, and at the soul level. When we get in touch with unconscious motives and drivers, and how they manifest as behaviours, we are able to make different choices and to be more of our true selves. I have run my private practice for 11 years & am a member of the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy.

For the last five years I have worked within the NHS IAPT (Improving Access to Psychological Therapies) service and specialise particularly in depression, anxiety, stress, bereavement, trauma and PTSD .
Hello my name is Kathy. Are you struggling with a situation in life which is causing you to experience distress and need some help? Do you want someone to talk to without judgement? I am able to provide you with a comfortable and confidential space where you can talk about what may be causing you to experience emotional difficulties. I am a person centred, humanistic integrative counsellor and work holistically working not just with the mind, but with the body as a whole through mindfulness techniques, helping you to perhaps hear that your body is telling you more than you realise.

I am particularly interested in the areas of confidence building and self esteem for young people in their early twenties and thirties; young people who have big goals but sometimes get stuck because of issues from the past, perhaps bullying or family issues. I also work with clients suffering from PTSD who wish to be free of the debilitating symptoms that this can cause for themselves and their families.

Finding a therapist can be a daunting and overwhelming task. It can also be difficult to know what you are looking for. I believe that the most important aspect of any therapeutic work is the therapeutic relationship, as this is central to the work that I do. I am a trained Counselling Psychologist, with 15 years’ experience in the field of mental health. I have been a qualified counsellor for seven years and have experience of working therapeutically with a range of presenting difficulties some of which include childhood trauma, bereavement, psychosis, anxiety and psychological distress.

There's a first time for everything. Most newcomers to counselling & psychotherapy start out feeling a little intimidated by the idea of this rather mysterious process. I aim to demystify what I do - clients often comment on what they describe as a down-to-earth and accessible approach. My aim is ultimately to help you understand yourself and your behaviour. I feel that goal is best achieved by working in a non-threatening, straightforward and inclusive way.

I am a qualified CBT therapist. My approach is both adaptive and solution orientated and works best for people who want to change how they are feeling, thinking and behaving. I can help you manage distressing emotions by changing your unhealthy thought patterns and replacing any unhelpful, destructive and self-sabotaging behaviours you may have developed with healthy, helpful practices. My approach is to help you develop a deeper understanding of who you are and why you do the things you do. I will help you develop a sense of self-respect and recognise you are stronger than you think.

Welcome to my profile! If you are reading this there is a possibility you have made a decision you have had enough of dealing with life and its struggles on your own. This is a first step to embark on a journey of self-exploration and finding what and why is bothering you and more importantly, what can be done about it. Its daunting and hard. But struggling in isolation, as you might know, is also hard and exhausting. The experience of recent months, for which there is no manual or template, has tested your psychological resilience on many levels and you found yourself struggling more and more.

I have a particular interest and extensive knowledge regarding supporting those who have experienced early life developmental and complex trauma, separation and loss. Often these experiences continue to impact on our lives and abilities to make and sustain healthy and emotionally secure relationships in adulthood. Although psychoanalytically trained my clinical practice uses a range of therapeutic approaches and is predominately informed by attachment based theory. I can offer both short and longer term therapeutic support to individuals, couples and groups.

Clients contact me for many reasons: anxiety/stress with physical symptoms, past adverse experiences, rape, abuse, anger, loneliness, disturbing dreams or intruding images, life threatening or chronic health conditions, life-long disabilities, life crisis.

I have over 10 years of experience within mental health settings in the NHS and private settings, qualifying as a clinical psychologist in 2018. I believe therapy is about building a non-judgemental and trusting relationship, where we can work together to make sense of your mental health symptoms and find ways to develop more awareness and ways to cope. Finding the right psychological approach is key to the smooth running of this process. Therefore, I utilise a range of psychological approaches that I adapt to suit you. My aim within therapy will be to be curious, empathetic and honest and draw on individual strengths.

My name is Jacqueline and I qualified as a counsellor in 2008. I have since worked with a wide variety of issues such as bereavement, anxiety, low self worth, lack of confidence, addiction, relational issues such as couples, autism, understanding self concept, shyness and much more. I believe that the professional working relationship between the counsellor and client is of fundamental importance as it provides opportunities in which change can occur. For that reason I provide a free assessment of your needs. Also meeting myself prior to engaging in any counseling will help you to decide if I would be the right counsellor for you.

I use the Person-Centred approach as a foundation for my practice, as the therapeutic relationship between the client and therapist is an important aspect of therapy. A trusting, non-judgemental and respectful relationship between you and your therapist is at the heart of any successful therapy. I aim to offer you a safe, confidential and relaxed environment in which we can explore and talk about the difficulties or challenges you are facing.

I believe in the importance of providing a warm and safe environment that aims to allow an open, honest and non-judgmental space for the client to bring what is important to them. I am aware that life challenges and difficulties affect people in different ways, therefore i believe that it is paramount that this is acknowledged when working with clients by viewing each client as unique in their own way. Therefore, I use a variety of approaches as i believe that when working with the client’s needs that flexibility is important to explore and allow the client to build in self awareness, confidence and empowerment.

It is not uncommon to reach a point in life where you feel you need to reach out for help and talk about what is going on for you in a safe space without the fear of being judged, not being taken seriously and with someone who is trained to help you. It doesn't matter how problematic your life is or what form, or size (small, medium or big) the problems or challenges in your life take, if they are causing you to suffer and be unhappy then I can help you explore them, move forwards and grow at a pace that works for you.

Trauma and PTSD Counsellors

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
