I particularly specialise in clients going through bereavement or facing a life limiting illness and I currently work at a local hospice once a week helping people struggling with either of these difficulties.
I offer face to face counselling for individuals in my bespoke therapy room. You may need to find a way to talk about a problem you have been struggling with for years or you may be in the midst of a current difficulty that is impacting on your life. Either way you will find me a good listener, empathic and able to help you work your way through whatever difficulties you are facing. You may have very specific goals you want to address or you may just be curious as to whether or not counselling / psychotherapy can help you. Together we can explore your issues and work in a person-centred way to help you.

I work with adults with experiences including but not limited to, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, relationship issues, domestic abuse, Autism, ADHD, trauma, grief and loss.
I understand that seeking help can feel like a big step. It's perfectly okay to feel unsure at first, but taking that first step can often lead to positive change. I'm here to listen without judgement, and to support you to find the best way forward. Counselling can provide you with the tools to manage anxiety, improve your mental well-being, and gain clarity on decisions. I am passionate about supporting people to live authentic, fulfilling lives and through a holistic, non-directive, client-centred approach, I aim to promote autonomy and self-empowerment. I offer a safe, compassionate, inclusive space where you can be yourself.

I was a weight loss consultant for 7 years and currently work in a rehab setting with those in recovery for alcohol and drug addiction.
Freedom is that time in space when you are allowed to be truly yourself – a time to do what you want, when you want it and not be shackled by others agenda’s. This singular word is extremely precious and valuable to me because there have been times when I felt I had no freedom. My aim is to work with you in a holistic way, taking into account mind, body and spirit. My training allows me to tailor make the therapy to you at any individual time. I work with a variety of issues and believe that everyone has the capability for change in their lives.

Perhaps you have a sense that something is not right, that you are not able to enjoy life fully. Through our child & adult experiences, we often ‘take on’ other people's views of ourselves, meaning we have beliefs about ourselves that are not true to who we really are. For eg-I will only be liked if I do what others want/I cannot cope with life because I am weak/why can’t I be like others, or you notice your behaviour changes when you are around people. We can adopt negative behavioural patterns that influence the way we relate to ourselves & others, impacting the way we live and inform us of who we are.

I offer a nonjudgemental, calming and empathic space for anyone in need of support. We live in an increasingly difficult and stressful world and it can feel overwhelming at times. I hope to provide a safe space for an individual to be themselves and feel able to explore what it is that distresses them and what they need to feel better.

Life is full of events, relationships, stresses and strains and all these impact on us in many different ways. It can affect all the important things to us such as school, work, relationships and our own perception of ourselves. This can be tiring and overwhelming. Fortunately, it doesn’t have to be this way and I believe strongly that a person can benefit from having a space to discuss their feelings and develop ideas and strategies to improve their emotional wellbeing.

Bereavement Counsellors

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
