In my experience we may all at times face hurdles too daunting to negotiate alone. I work with a wide range of issues focussing on clients who have suffered sexual abuse, as well as young people and adults experiencing stress, anxiety, trauma, panic attacks, depression and low self esteem. We may have issues and patterns of behaviour from the past that we are ready to leave behind. I offer a safe, confidential therapeutic space to be heard and feel safe. In some cases I work in the here and now, in others I believe in order to understand and find our inner resources to change present behaviour we need to delve into our past.

It can be challenging to share our concerns and fears with others. We often worry that our struggles might be too heavy for our friends and family. I provide a private and secure environment where you can safely explore your thoughts and feelings. There is no loss or challenge too insignificant to discuss in therapy. You are not required to rush through your healing; this is your personal space to release the weight of life's burdens and reflect on your current and past experiences at your own speed.
I offer a nurturing platform and my expertise to support your journey of personal growth and acceptance.

I'm Karen Sargison. I specialise in working with adults, teenagers and children who feel unheard, overwhelmed & burnt-out — those who’ve been left behind by systems that were supposed to help — those who’ve reached out and been met with waiting lists, assessments, or feeling dismissed.
Perhaps you or someone you're caring for, are feeling confused, hopeless, or numb and don't know where to turn next. I offer a space to slow down, be heard, and feel validated. Together, we’ll find ways to help you feel more confident, more resilient and more able to cope.

If you are having unwelcome thoughts, confused or feeling a lack of connection to yourself , others and life, then this can be an opportunity to be heard, without judgement in a safe, confidential space. When people have the chance to unravel what is getting in the way of thinking or feeling well, they can often re-evaluate their lives positively. I believe helping people to feel more understanding and in control of their reactions and interactions is a good starting point, with the possibility of looking at early conditioning that is getting in the way.
I offer a free online introductory session of 45 minutes for you.

How long does therapy take for anger management?
Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.
How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?
Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.
Is there medication for anger management?
Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.
What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
