Hi, welcome to my profile. I deal with a wide range of mental health issues including depression, trauma, low self-esteem, gender identity, anger and relationship issues. As each client has their own story I believe it is important to understand and provide an approach tailored to your specific needs. This offers every client a safe and comfortable environment where a relaxed working relationship can be created. This will allow us to build a foundation based on trust to explore your reasons for therapy and to explore the impacts of your thoughts, feelings and behaviours and how they affect your life.
If you’re reading this you must have determined you would like help to heal and resolve difficulties in your life. I have a wealth of experience working with adults and children who have endured severe trauma, mental ill health (anxiety, depression etc) and have guided them through the healing process. Trauma affects both brain and body, causing somatic pain and toxic stress. Abusive relationships leave there damage behind long after they have ended . I’m not a fixer and I don’t have a magic wand, however, I can help you untangle the confusion and find some much needed hope to help you reach your goal.
My name is Didier. I am a Psychologist and couple therapist. Born in France, I have trained in the UK at the highest academic level and in multiple settings (incl. the NHS). I can help adults of all ages with a broad range of mental health difficulties (anxiety, panic, OCD, depression, low self-esteem, trauma). I deeply value relationships and I am trained to help couples in crisis restore their connection and find themselves again, within their relationship and at an individual level. I am also a cancer specialist, at The Christie Private Care (Manchester). If you want to know more about me, please visit my website.
Are you struggling, maybe having problems with your relationship, family or friends? Maybe you are feeling dissatisfied, overwhelmed, guilty, upset or angry? Whatever feelings you have, it usually means pain for you in some way. Counselling isn’t just something people do when they are in crisis or at rock bottom, attending before problems snowball or get too overwhelming can help and save more pain in the long run. Many clients feel lighter and better after the first session because therapy can really help.
Are you exhausted and overwhelmed by the rollercoaster of emotions you’re experiencing? Whether it's difficult family relationships or painful romantic relationships, I understand the shame and exhaustion that comes with never quite feeling good enough. If you have struggled with your mental and emotional wellbeing for a while and are losing that little spark of hope, I can support you to feel more in control and help you begin to develop healthy ways of managing situations that you find overwhelming.
My focus is on collaboration to form an empowering therapeutic relationship centred on your needs. Alongside facilitating personal agency, I aim to situate the difficulties brought to therapy within the broader context they occur as problems seldom exist in a vacuum. I have over 10 years of experience in mental health services with a range of presenting difficulties. I offer a free 15 minute consultation as an opportunity to identify if we could work together. This can then be followed by a more detailed assessment appointment. After this regular therapy sessions can be arranged to work on your identified goals.
I am passionate about helping you to feel positive about yourself and your relationships. Working with couples and individuals, I create a safe environment for you to explore difficult or challenging emotions, freely at your own pace. Where you feel disconnection in your life, I work openly and sensitively to re-connect you to your sense of self and to your partner. Sessions are conducted online via Zoom or in-person at my office in Newton-le-Willows. For individuals, I also offer Walking Therapy in Warrington WA2. I look forward to helping you on your journey. NOT CURRENTLY TAKING NEW REFERRALS I provide psychotherapy to people who are wanting to better understand themselves, their feelings and their relationships with others. Suffering is a part of being human, as is the need to be with another who can offer comfort at times of distress, confusion and grief. I have an in-depth understanding of how early developmental relationships and later traumatic life events can effect the neurobiology of the brain and the body; and how the role of connection, conversation and relationships are integral to our natural human healing processes.
Both my own experiences of OCD from an early age & my clinical training have led me to deeply understand OCD, & how to recover from it. Because of this, I know that it’s so important to have an OCD therapist who really understands you. And now, you are no longer on your own with OCD - you have found a private OCD specialist who has been where you are now, & has successfully recovered from OCD. I understand the nature of your intrusive thoughts, obsessions, compulsions, struggles, & distress, & how to guide you out of your OCD labyrinth.
