You're under pressure to 'hold it all together', but underneath there may be anxiety, low mood, or strain in your relationships. Caught between external achievements and what you're experiencing internally, things may look successful on paper, but inside there may be exhaustion, self-doubt, or a loss of meaning. Constant pressure, high standards, or a particular challenge at work or in your personal life may have become overwhelming. You might feel you should be coping better or managing this without help. What you're looking for is space to talk, understand what's happening, and find a more sustainable path forward.

I have experience working with trauma, anxiety, depression and relationships and so work with families, children, individuals and couples.
Hi, I’m Emma and I offer a compassionate and containing space for us to explore what it is that has brought you into therapy and how we can understand what is needed for you to have the full life experiencer that you desire. I offer an eclectic approach to therapy, depending on the needs you are coming for and the age, circumstance and appropriateness of how we will work together. I believe the relationship we hold is at the centre of the healing process and so I will be focused on what that needs to be for you and how that needs to be developed with others too.

I see that all behaviours such as self-harm, suicide attempts, drinking, drug abuse and other impulsive behaviours have developed as coping strategies to cope with and numb difficult emotions and experiences. These behaviours often act as a plaster to a deeper wound, but just like a plaster they don’t really ever fully heal unless they have time to heal properly. This is the work of therapy to take off the plaster and look more towards the root causes of the behaviour to work out what is going on for you. My instagram page offers an insight to how I work and might be helpful to get a further sense of how I work psychwithemma

I have particular experience working with abuse, trauma, personality disorders and also with clients impacted by neurodiversity.
Firstly, thank you for stopping to read my profile. Life can be unpredictable and sometimes it may feel a little overwhelming, at other times it can lack variety and we can feel like we are stuck in a rut. I offer a non-judgemental space for you to explore what is happening in your life and find solutions that will work for you. Some clients will want the opportunity to express emotions and be heard, allowing them to find acceptance and their own way forward. Others might be looking for a therapy which offers more direction such as life coaching.

Have you been impacted by a past or present trauma that continues to interfere with your life, relationship, home or work?
Good therapy is a collaboration between the therapist and client and provides a safe and confidential space where you can discuss and understand your experiences and the impact that it may be having on you. I offer both practical strategies and a space where we can gently begin to explore how to work with your physical and emotional responses.

I also have specialised in working with survivors of sexual assault and abuse, complex trauma and PTSD.
I am a fully qualified, accredited Psychotherapist and counsellor. I work with a range of issues, including anxiety and depression. Being heard and accepted for being who you truly are, can feel incredibly empowering. When this is taken away, our thoughts can trigger unhelpful behaviours, increasing low mood. Which in turn can play havoc with our emotions. When we feel lonely and isolated, overwhelming feelings can flood our thoughts and fears. I can offer you a safe, warm, and confidential space to explore any issues that may contribute towards your anxiety and depression. I am here to listen to you in an non-judgmental way.

Neurodivergent -aware counselling is sensory-aware, affirming, trauma-informed.
Hello, I'm Suzanna. I’m a therapist for autistic, ADHD and AuDHD adults — and I’m neurodivergent myself. You don’t have to over-explain or justify your brain to me, because I get it. Neurodivergence often comes with anxiety, burnout, masking, or feeling overwhelmed. It can show up as frustration, shame, or a sense of being stuck or “not enough.” Maybe you are a just diagnosed young adult, trying to understand how you can better support yourself in study, work or social environments. Or perhaps you are one of the “late-diagnosed” - now realising why some areas of life have felt so hard and looking to learn more and make changes.

Trauma and PTSD Counsellors
When should I seek treatment for trauma?
Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?
Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?
Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?
It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
