I am committed to supporting people in healing from relational trauma, developmental trauma, childhood trauma and interpersonal trauma of all kinds. Human beings are amazing, remarkable and resilient in our ability to cope with adversity. We often compartmentalise or dissociate what happens to us so we can carry on living. We also turn to all manner of addictions and behaviours that on the surface may seem disordered and destructive yet at the same time they make perfect sense. They protect us, help us to stay in control, help numb the pain, help us to survive, and help communicate our stories.

I have a wide range of experience including personality disorder, veterans, looked-after children, developmental trauma, and psychosis among others.
What truly sets me apart is that I’ve been on both sides of the therapy couch. I know what it’s like to wake up with a racing mind, overwhelmed by the thought of facing the day. I know the loneliness of feeling invisible even when surrounded by people. I know the weight of intrusive thoughts and the relentless exhaustion of carrying childhood wounds into adult life. I’ve experienced intensive therapy for anxiety and trauma, and I’ve come through it. This means that when I sit with you, I’m not just relying on textbooks or clinical theory. I meet you with real understanding and absolutely no judgment. I get it, because I’ve lived it!

I’m a queer Principal Clinical Psychologist with over ten years’ NHS experience, working with a broad range of difficulties, from everyday mental health concerns to complex, trauma-related presentations. I start by building a clear, collaborative understanding of how your patterns developed and what keeps them going. From there, I draw on EMDR, parts work, Compassion Focused Therapy and Cognitive Analytic Therapy to work at the root of things, rather than just managing symptoms. I offer affirming, inclusive support for LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent clients navigating overlapping identities and systemic barriers.

I bring many years of experience working in mental health & non-visible health conditions, helping people manage the impact of often complex challenges of fatigue, brain fog, low mood, anxiety, pain, chronic stress, burnout & emotional overwhelm on their lives. I help them build pathways to feeling more anchored, more autonomous, more able to manage daily life. This can mean many different things- maybe building helpful rhythms, habits & more meaning into their lives; managing symptoms; feeling more regulated in mind & body; breaking cycles of masking, over-doing, people-pleasing; maybe it's towards re-connecting with themselves.

Over 20 years as a Highly Specialised Clinical Psychologist in the NHS developed my skills in improving wellbeing particularly for Black/ Caribbean people (of African ancestry, including multiple heritage). Day to day pressures can be overwhelming without appropriate support and understanding for the many cultures we co-exist within. My interest in the psychological impact of disability makes me ideal for adjusting to such issues. Specialist training in offering a therapeutic chair to people with learning disabilities means level of ability is not a barrier to enhancing wellbeing for individuals and families.

Hi, I’m Nathan, thanks for being here. I’m an integrative therapist with experience across both the NHS and specialist community services. My work is grounded in understanding how life experiences, especially trauma can shape the way we think, feel, and respond to the world around us. As an integrative therapist, I don’t believe in a “one size fits all” approach. I work flexibly and collaboratively, adapting how I work to suit you as an individual. Whether you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure of what you need, we can take things at your pace and begin to make sense of things together.

It's not always easy to reach out and ask for support. We often feel that we can manage on our own or don't want to bother anyone with our thoughts and feelings. It can be hard to find a balance between work, relationships, family & other commitments to prioritise yourself. No matter what brings you to therapy the most important part is the relationship we will share. I aim to ensure you feel heard & give you a space to work through anything you want to bring to help you have a greater insight & self-awareness and I will walk alongside you on this journey. Counselling isn't a one size fits all package it's as individual as you are.

Psychosis Counsellors
What’s the most effective treatment for psychosis?
The most effective treatment for psychosis is coordinated specialty care. In this model, a team of professionals works with a patient to address all aspects of the underlying disorder. This approach incorporates individual or group therapy, employment and education support, family support and education, medication management (which often involves low doses of antipsychotics), and case management to facilitate problem-solving as needed.

When should people seek treatment for psychosis?
People should seek immediate treatment at the earliest indication of psychosis. Symptoms include delusions, hallucinations, disorganized or blocked speech, and agitated body movements. Early signs that a person may be developing a disorder that will lead to psychosis include suspiciousness of others, memory problems and distractibility, an inability to think clearly, rapid or nonsensical speech, withdrawal from friends or family, aggression toward others, and sensitivity to bright lights or noises.

What if psychosis is left untreated?
Without treatment, psychosis can have significant repercussions, including injuries, job loss, homelessness, financial or legal trouble, ruptured relationships, and suffering for the person and their family. While early treatment for psychosis often yields the best results, there is no point past which it becomes useless to seek treatment. At any point, treatment can make a difference.

How do I get someone else to seek treatment for psychosis?
It’s extremely difficult to watch a loved one suffer from hallucinations, delusions, and other elements of psychosis—sometimes exacerbated by their fears of treatment. Have a conversation with them in a quiet space and maintain a calm, supportive tone. Share your concerns about behaviors you’ve observed, suggest treatment, and explain the potential benefits. Listen carefully to their responses. The person may not be ready after one conversation, but with time, they may come around.
