I offer brief or long-term therapy to clients from all walks of life, supporting a wide range of issues including: addiction, alcoholism, anxiety, anger, relationships, identity crisis, life changes, self-esteem, stress, and loss of confidence.
Some people come to therapy with a specific ‘presenting issue’ that they wish to discuss, explore and resolve. Others are not so sure what it is that troubles them - but they do know that change of some sort is vital, and they would like that change to occur sooner rather than later. Some people come to therapy with great enthusiasm. Others (particularly those who see themselves as ‘fighters’ or ‘succeeders’) might feel embarrassed at the prospect of admitting their stuckness. Whatever your current life situation, allow me to reassure you that change is not only possible, but can often occur in just a few sessions.

People come when something isn’t sitting right. Anxiety, overthinking, feeling on edge. Relationships can feel stuck or go round in the same loops. If you’re neurodivergent, everyday things can take more effort than expected. I work with individuals and couples. With individuals, we slow things down and look at what’s actually happening day to day. With couples, I use the Gottman Method, focusing on communication and conflict. I’m a BACP accredited integrative counsellor, trained to Level 6 in supervision and Level 4 in counselling, and I also work as a counselling tutor.

I work with ages spanning from the tender age of 3 to adulthood. I work within trauma and attachment-related challenges, seeking solace and healing. Rooted in past experiences, and how the issues manifest in strained relationships, emotional dysregulation, and a pervasive sense of disconnection. Individuals needs transcend age barriers, encompassing a safe space for expression, empathetic understanding, and tools for coping and resilience. Through therapy, individuals will aspire to reclaim a sense of security, rebuild trust in relationships, and cultivate a healthy sense of self-worth.

You don’t need to have the right words to begin. People come to therapy for many different reasons. You might be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, uncertain, or simply aware that something isn’t quite right. Whatever has brought you here, therapy can offer a space to slow down, speak freely, and begin to make sense of your experience in your own way, with care, curiosity, and space to reflect.

I am a level 2 qualified Internal Family Systems (IFS) practitioner and am passionate about this wonderful non-pathologising approach. Ever wondered why you reacted in a certain way or become disproportionally triggered by certain situations? With IFS such reactions can be very valuable in ultimately leading us to parts of us which carry unresolved hurt from the past. The model is very much about us understanding and developing a positive relationship with parts of us which have, for very good reason, taken on protective roles in our system. Then, with their permission, we can help you be with and heal those parts which carry hurt.

Hello and welcome. How can I help support you? It can be difficult to express our feelings or make sense of what is happening to us. Enabling ourselves to be truly heard is important so that we might explore our difficulties. You may feel that a change is needed. Perhaps you struggle with unhelpful patterns or have difficulty setting boundaries for yourself. Do you replay events, wishing that you had done things differently? Perhaps a past trauma is haunting you. Navigating our challenges can make us feel out of control, lost and frustrated. By working together we can heal, build strength and resilience and feel more fulfilled.

I work with people who feel ready to address some kind of dis-ease in their lives, whether that is an anxiety, addiction, relationship question or stress-related physical pain.
I have a range of experience with both women and men, dealing with a wide range of issues. In my experience, the only real requirement for therapy is that the person seeking help feels ready to embrace the invigorating and frightening possibility of really meeting themselves. I am happy to offer an initial exploratory session.

Conflicts often follow a familiar, repetitive pattern even though the content may change. In relationship therapy, we can identify the strategies that you're using in conflict, the needs you hope those strategies will meet, the ways in which those strategies might be counterproductive, and how you can do things differently. I offer Internal Family Systems informed therapy for partners and other pairs including siblings, friends, and family members. I welcome people in non-normative relationships such as queerplatonic relationships.

I'm a chartered clinical psychologist with 10 years’ experience in helping people improve their mental health and navigate life's challenges. Life can get complicated. The relationship tensions, work pressures and big transitions can leave you feeling tense, overwhelmed and doubtful of your abilities. Perhaps, your inner critic is constantly saying you're not enough. Perhaps some past events and patterns are preventing you from living the life you want. You’re not alone, and more importantly, you don’t have to stay stuck.

Sometimes alcohol or substances become a way to cope.
I offer a client-led, empathetic and non-judgemental space where you can talk at your own pace and feel properly heard. Together, we can make sense of what’s happened, understand patterns that keep you stuck, help you feel safer, more grounded, and more able to trust yourself again.

What is the best therapy for addiction?
Addiction treatment will be tailored to the individual. People seeking help for addiction—whether with a psychotherapist, in an outpatient clinic, or in a residential program—should expect to engage in multiple types of treatments, sometimes including medication. For anyone recovering from addiction, avoiding situations in which one has typically used a substance is essential, as is the support of close connections. Since substance use disorders tend to co-occur with underlying mental health conditions such as anxiety or depression, those must also be addressed as part of any recovery plan.

How long does therapy for addiction take?
There is no set timeline for recovery from addiction. Patients and their families should expect the work to last several months, if not longer. Residential treatment programs may be based on a stay of 30, 60, or 90 days, with continuing work after release, but only about 1 percent of people are treated in such facilities. Ceasing use is just the first step; therapy to help maintain abstinence and effect behavior change must follow. The process of recovery, neuroscience has shown, involves brain cells recovering the capacity to respond to natural sources of reward and restore control over the impulse to use. Another definition of recovery is restoring voluntary control over one’s substance use and retaking all of one’s previous responsibilities.

How effective is drug addiction treatment?
Substance use disorders are treatable and remission is achievable for many who seek recovery; by some estimates, more than three-quarters of people who become addicted to alcohol or drugs recover. But that success rarely occurs quickly or on a set timeline; relapse is not only common, but many therapists and clinicians view it as a normal part of the process—not always a sign that a person has returned to addiction, but a signal that their treatment should be adjusted to help them regain control. Overall, research suggests, five years after the end of substance use, one’s risk of relapse is no greater than that of others who had not faced addiction. Other experts believe that complete abstinence is not the only measure of recovery, and that, through effective treatment, many people can learn to control their use.

How can you get addiction treatment for someone?
The most important factor in recovery from addiction is widely understood to be an individual’s commitment to change. For that reason,“interventions” in which friends and family gather to urge or force someone to begin immediate treatment often backfire; even when such efforts do lead someone to begin treatment, they may be less likely to stay than those who are self-driven. Still, family members can play an important role in supporting an individual who seeks help and can take part in family therapy as one element of a loved one’s treatment.
