Asking for help is not an easy step to take. The prospect of sharing your thoughts and feelings with someone else is quite a leap of faith and if you have not experienced counselling before you may be wondering what to expect. I would like to offer you a comfortable space where we can talk and get to know each other; and when you are ready, we can start to explore and make sense of your thoughts and personal difficulties, working entirely at your own pace. By exploring our past experiences and relationships we can often gain a new and fresh perspective on our issues which can lead to a deeper understanding of ourselves.
My background is in teaching, and presently, alongside my private practice, I work as a counsellor in a Secondary School. I also have experience working with disabled clients particularly those with a vision impairment. My Integrative training means I am competent in more than one approach, (Person Centred, CBT, and Psychodynamic or Psychotherapeutic).
Thus I can adapt my way of working to suit your needs. E.g. we might look at your childhood to see if the belief system that was established early on is negatively affecting you today; or we might use CBT techniques to help you to improve the way you think, behave and manage your problems. But above all I always work with interest, empathy and compassion.
