When we experience a loss or bereavement the associated grief can feel overwhelming at first.  It is a complex emotional process which continuously evolves over time. Grief is a deeply personal experience. There is definitely no right or wrong way to grieve and there is certainly no 'one-size-fits-all' approach, everyone is different. In my role as a Grief, Loss, and Bereavement Counsellor, my primary focus is on offering compassionate, personal, and meaningful support in a space which is personal to you, confidential and safe.

Hello, my name is Dr Joanna Saddington. I qualified as a Clinical Psychologist in 2006. Before setting up in private practice I worked in the NHS for 18 years. I am passionate about helping adults, young people, children and families overcome their difficulties. We all know life can be challenging, so it doesn't matter whether a problem is longstanding or is more recent. What is important, is that we work together to try to solve it. I always aim to work in a way that suits the individual and their needs, as well as aiming to deliver therapy empathetically and without judgment.

Life can you hit you hard! I know this from experience. The good news is, that there is always a way back, no matter how hopeless the situation might feel at the time. The fact that you are here right now shows that you have the inner strength and desire to move forward. That in itself is huge, and the first step towards discovering (or re-discovering) the person that you truly are. Maybe you are feeling stressed? or suffer from anxiety? Are you struggling with a past traumatic experience? or the loss of a loved one? You could be stuck in a rut and not know why? Whatever it may be, remember that it does not have to be permanent.

For some, life throws us a curveball and often when we’re least expecting it. Others may feel that pressures have been building over a long period of time. We can face challenges and get stuck which sometimes can be overwhelming. Depression, anxiety, stresses and issues in life may lead you to needing a person to talk to who is neutral, non-judgmental, empathetic and a good listener. Your wellbeing is important to me so I will treat you with the upmost respect and work with you to help achieve your goals. Based in Eccleshall I am close to Stafford, Stone, Market Drayton, Loggerheads, Stoke, Newport and Telford.

You may be struggling with overwhelming feelings, depression, anxiety, memories of past or recent trauma or perhaps just not feeling yourself. You may be worried about your thoughts or behaviour, either towards yourself or others. Perhaps your relationships have not been very healthy and you want to break the cycle. Therapy can help you to address these issues and bring you back to the self you used to be or move you forward to a stronger healthier place.

I am a Person-Centered counsellor (Person-center means, client led) who uses CBT and Solution Focused techniques where suitable. My background includes yoga, reiki, meditation, aromatherapy and mindfulness. This means I can offer an holistic approach to the therapeutic work. The relationship between myself and the client (you) is at the heart of ALL therapy. Counselling is about change, and change can be very difficult and scary to do. In fact, sometimes we actually don't know how to do it. With support from myself, we will explore your anxiety, concerns, behavior, beliefs and feelings.

I have 12 years post qualification experience working with adults (young adults to seniors, men in particular), and with individuals and with couples.
Life can at times seem overwhelming and if that's true for you then meeting with a caring, supportive counsellor can really help. Maybe you've experienced a loss or there's a trauma from your past which is still disturbing you. Perhaps you're struggling with anxiety, lack of confidence or you just want space to work through your feelings and why you behave in the way you do. You could be someone who doesn’t want to talk in depth about a past event, if so, you could benefit from EMDR therapy where traumatic memories are processed through guided eye movements. Whatever the issue is I am a good listener and want to help if I can.

There are many reasons why you may wish to speak with a counsellor but a desire for some ‘change’ is usually present within our clients. There may be something about you which is being carried from past experiences, feelings about yourself such as low self-worth, or anxiety brought on by relationships with others or circumstances surrounding you which seem to be prevailing an assault on you. You may be suffering from depression or, fears which are seemingly taking control of you. I am trained in Trauma Therapy. Addictions or obsessions are also common reasons for our working with clients.

I will support you when life is feeling tough, even overwhelming, especially when you are experiencing stress, depression, anxiety, grief, bereavement, feeling lost or empty or having negative thoughts and feelings or perhaps there are changes you want to make in your life and would benefit from being in a calm and nurturing space. We can work together in a compassionate environment by exploring what is happening for you at the moment and perhaps looking at your past, such as your childhood or relationships, how it affects you now whilst helping you to move forward to live the life you want to experience.
