Often the difficulties people face in the present are connected to earlier life experiences. By exploring these connections, we can uncover the deeper meanings behind current struggles. I am Dr Karen Matthews, the founder of Eir Counselling. I offer psychodynamic counselling in a safe, non-judgemental and confidential space where together we can work through your struggles towards healing and lasting change.

My work is grounded in a psychodynamic approach, which means we’ll explore the deeper patterns and past experiences that may be shaping how you feel and relate to others today. In our sessions, you will have the opportunity to reflect on repeating patterns, unresolved conflicts and underlying feelings that may be influencing your daily life.

I have thirty years of experience as a nurse practitioner in women's health, sexual heath, HIV and addiction. Working with people who are often experiencing a time of great difficulty. We all have our own stories to tell and it is not unusual to feel overwhelmed at times. You deserve to be heard. I am here to listen.
